Main form : Switchboard

On Start Up the controls on the main form are disabled except for the country list box. There is an auto text functionality•, which makes entering text easy. Users should select their own country. This introduces a security, preventing that, by accident, you would modify the inputs from another country.

ERS Filter Form

By clicking the “Form D-104”-button in the main form, the filter form pops up. This form is divided into two parts:

• The upper part is used to define a filter to make a query. • The lower part shows the result of the query

When the form appears, the filter is empty (all query fields have a *) which means that all records are available. The form only shows 5 resumes of records together, with a slide bar to visualize the subsequent ones. The record fields in the lower part of the filter form are locked, meaning they cannot be edited. Even though there are navigation buttons at the bottom of this form, the possibility of adding new records does not exist. In other words; these records are “Read only”. Every record has two Action buttons: Details and Modify. Clicking the “Details” button shows all details of the specified record in read-only format. Clicking the “Modify” button shows all details of the specified record enabled for modification and allows adding new records - but only if your country matches the country name you selected at the outset. In the upper right-hand corner of the filter part, the navigation buttons can be also used to browse through the record set. Furthermore, this form shows two “Report” buttons on the upper right-hand corner.

Filter Results

An asset in this DB is the use of 7 filters: the seven fields available in the filter box at the top. These filters can be selected according to the type of information a nation wishes to consult on its screen. For example: you only want to consult the “Belgian” inputs in the “Land” area where the project status is “Concept phase”. The filters can also be used to trace possible capability gaps, for example, by doing a search on Core Capability “3-Deployability/Mobility” and Sub Capability “304-Medical evacuation”, you are able to see how many nations are interested in or are seeking cooperation for that capability.

ERS Detail Form (Read Only)

The Detail form shows all fields of a particular record, either in read only or enabled for modification. When the form is disabled, a “READ ONLY” label becomes visible at the top of the form. In this case the navigation button “Add New Record” at the bottom of the form is not available. When clicking on the button next to the “Level 2” and “Level 3” textboxes, a description of the chosen capability, when available, becomes visible at the bottom of the form.

ERS Detail Form (enabled for modifications)

When the Detail-form is enabled, the “READ ONLY” label is invisible and all fields become available for modification. On selecting a Level 2 and/or Level 3 capability, a text description of the capability, when available, becomes visible at the bottom of the form•. After selecting a nation and a volume, the Num field is automatically filled with the next available number for this volume and nation. As the volumes have their own range of numbers, this automatic number attribution function makes it quasi-impossible to use a number twice. The fields Nation, Volume, IDF, Status, Core Capability, Capability and Sub Capability can be selected out of a predefined list of possibilities. If no appropriate IDF or (Sub)Capability can be found in the predefined list, you may leave that particular field empty and make a new proposition in the field Remarks. The Area Chairmen/DB Coordinator may decide to add your suggestion to the existing list or to change it to guarantee functional sorting. The fields ISD (In Service Date), Name/Description, Operational Capabilities, Equipment Replacement, Remarks and Nation POC are all open textboxes where you must do the typing work yourself.

• Note that not all descriptions were available at the moment of production. The dB will be completed as soon as all texts will be made available to the dB coordinator.

Some general rules should be respected when filling in these fields:

- ISD: Year in which the new equipment is planned to be in service. The information in this field is very important for the identification of potential cooperation between nations. In case this date is not yet known, try to give a general idea of the planned in service date. The use of an approximate date (e.g. 2015+) or an approximate timeframe (e.g. 2010-2015) may be a solution.

- Name/Description: Try to give a short general description that allows an identification of the equipment type (e.g. Fighter Aircraft) rather than only the name of a specific equipment type (e.g. F-16).

- Operational Capabilities: Use a string of characteristics rather than full sentences (e.g. ‘All weather, day/night, ..’) instead of (‘An aircraft capable to ..’).

- National PoC: Name/Tel/Fax and E-mail of national Point of Contact. In the field Cooperation you should thick one or more boxes where appropriate. For new inputs, the field Input Date is automatically filled with the current date. The ‘Add New Record’ button at the bottom of the form is now also available. New records, for the selected country, can now be added.

ERS Detail Form (shows an altered record)

After nations updates are introduced, the modified record details are shown in yellow. The “Modifications noted” button can be used to take out the yellow colour of the altered fields.

Print reports There are 2 possibilities to print out reports: 1. By clicking the “Report D-104”-button in the main form, a print preview of the D-104

report (organized by equipment) will be shown.

2. By clicking in the Filter Form on the ‘Equipment’-button (upper right-hand side) a

report organized by equipment becomes available. If you click on ‘Capabilities’ a report organized by capabilities becomes available.

Report by Equipment (IDF)

With this report you can produce a hardcopy that contains the same information as the table of the WEAG/PI/D-104 document (organized by equipment). The data in this report are sorted in the following order:

• Volume • Type of Equipment (IDF) • In service Date (ISD) • Nation • Serial Number

Additionally, you can see for each input the relevant Core Capability, Capability and Sub Capability.

General Remarks ☼ Nations are supposed to report only on those requirements for which they are really

seeking cooperation, taking into account that normally no cooperation can be arranged in a timeframe less than 3 years.

☼ Nations are allowed to ‘nationalise’ the DB by deleting other nations inputs (select

a record in the ERS Filter Form and push ‘delete’-button) but they are requested not to modify anything further to the structure.
