A game of polo lasts just under an hour and is divided into periods called chukkas.
Each Chukka lasts 7.5 minutes and is made a 3-minute interval between chukkas. Halfway through the game is paused for five minutes.
Horses should be changed every Chukka and can only be used two times in one game and could be eliminated during the match if their condition is unsatisfactory.
The games are controlled by two judges on horseback and a referee who stays off the field, which is consulted by previous in doubt.
The teams have to change fields, and therefore the goal, every goal they score. This is so that neither team is favored in the state of the field and weather conditions.
