The purpose of this lesson plan is to:

• Create a fun and interactive learning experience• Provide teaching options in addition to the Leader Q Card

• Creatively revisit the Bible story featured in the teaching video• Give kids an opportunity to further explore the application point

PROGRAM

You will need:• Paper plates (1 per kid)

• Markers• Paper and tape (for making 3 darts per team)

PICTURE(The Bible Story)

In this portion of your class time you have the opportunity to retell the Bible storypresented earlier in the teaching video. The object is to paint a picture that kids

will understand and remember. When telling the story, remember you are painting apicture for your viewers. Have fun and explore your creativity. Here are some ideas

to make your storytelling more memorable:

• Ask 2 kids to place the pieces of armor on you while another volunteer readsthe verses.

• Choose one volunteer to throw darts at you after you are armed.• Use props: objects to represent the pieces of spiritual armor and the darts.

Ephesians 6:13-18

Use every piece of armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the

battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground putting on the sturdy belt oftruth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that

comes from the good news, so that you will be fully prepared. In every battle you willneed faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on

salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and

be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere.

PLAY(Learning Activity)

In this portion of your class time you will lead your class in a fun and exciting

activity that will help your kids apply the Bible lesson to their everyday lives.

“Armed and Ready”

HOW TO START:• Divide kids into 2 teams.

• Hand out one paper plate to each player.• Hand out markers.

• Hand out paper and tape to each team.• Give players 2 minutes to each make their own faith shields using the paper

plates.• Give the teams 2 minutes to each make 3 team darts using rolled up paper

and tape.

HOW TO PLAY:

• Say, “This game is called Armed and Ready. This game will help us learn aboutputting on the whole armor of God so that we can be strong.”

• Begin round #1. One player from each team competes in round #1.• The players each use their own shields and the 3 team darts.

• Say GO. The players throw the three darts at each other while using their faithshields to defend themselves.

• If a player successfully hits his opponent with a dart, he receives 1 point forhis team.

• Give the players 1 minute to complete the round.• Read a question to both players.

• The first player to answer the question earns 2 bonus points for his team.• Choose one player from each team to compete in round #2.

• Repeat all steps for the remaining 9 rounds (or less).• The team with the most points at the end of the last round wins the game.

PLAY OPTIONS:

• Hand out game prizes (optional).

PLAN(Group Commitment)

In this portion of your class time you have the opportunity to lead your group to make

a commitment. You may select any ONE of the options provided or your group maycreate its’ own. Encourage the kids to write their commitments on their Prayer Cards

so you can be praying for them during the week.

Commitment Options:• Use things around your house to make pieces of the whole armor of God.

Label them and keep them in your room to help you remember them.• Read your Bible everyday this week. The Bible is the sword of the Spirit.

• Pray everyday this week for all the Christians in the world.

PRAYER

In this portion of your class time, have your kids fill out the Prayer Card. Take thecards home and pray for your kids throughout the week. End your time together by

praying for your group commitment.

Hand out prayer cards• Ask Kids to fill in their commitments in the space provided

• Ask kids to fill in their prayer requests in the space provided

• Collect cards so you can take them home and pray for your kids• Close in prayer

God, thank you for your Spirit who helps us to be strong.Help us to do things everyday that will prepare us to bearmed and ready. Help us to pray about everything.
