EPIC MOS CCF update: new CTI+ADUCONV
• CTI and ADUCONV CCFs use identical epochs
• New CCFs: 13 time epochs– 8 pre-cooling epochs (previously 7 epochs)– 5 post-cooling epochs
• CTI: previously 1 epoch• ADUCONV: previously 2 epochs (correction of incorrect on-
board voltages between rev.1030-1074)

MOS2 CCD5 noise monitoring
• Still searching possible triggers
• No trigger found from HK parameters:– Radiation monitors (HE0, LE0, RGS1, RGS2)– MOS2 CCD5 voltages (K1181-1196)– MOS2 Focal plane temperature (K1253)– Many more temperatures and voltages (EMVC, EMCR,…)– Any idea?
• Search will be repeated for MOS1 CCD4– Sudden appearance– Shows decay

Column appears and disappears
• Column was off since change of on-board offset June 2005.
• Re-appeared in rev. 1100-1115: Diagnostic shows column offset to be 130 ADU (instead of 123 ADU).
• At lower level or disappeared in rev. 1116-1122: Diagnostics show column offset back on expected level.
• During and after eclipse phase rev.1123-1135 column sometimes is hot and sometimes normal.
• Not hot column from rev. 1136-1148.
• Column present in single exposures from 1149-1156.
• Not hot column since rev. 1157 (-1172).

Conclusion
• CTI:– Parallel CTI very stable since cooling. Nearly constant over
the last 600 revolutions!– Serial CTI stable since cooling. Only MOS2 CCD7 showed a
step-like degradation.
• Line monitoring:– Line energies within 5 eV for all epochs.– Line widths (FWHM) stable since cooling: ~80 eV at Al
energy and ~140 eV at Mn energy
• MOS2 CCD5 noise:– In MOS2 CCD5 present in phases all over the mission.– Possible triggers not yet found.– MOS1 CCD4 suddenly highly affected, slow decrease.– Single appearances several CCDs.

Conclusion
• MOS1 (sometimes hot) meteoroid column:– Stable for 6 months after change of on-board offset.– Re-appeared after save/idle mode and (some) eclipses.– Possible triggered by temperature changes? Unlikely!
• Change of the EPIC BRAT:– Decrease MOS telemetry to 12 kbits/sec.– Increase pn telemetry to 24 kbits/sec.– After rev. 620: 112 MOS1 and 91 MOS2 observations
require more than 12 kbits/sec, but nearly all suffer from high background radiation.
– Less than 20 observation without high background radiation require more than 12 kbits/sec.
