Eph. 4:17-24
CHRISTIAN DRESS CODE
Which man is a Christian?
(Isa 61:10) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my
God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath
covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom
decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
(Rev 19:7-8) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come,
and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she
should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the
righteousness of saints.
(Rev 16:15) Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and
they see his shame.
I. Take off the PUTREFIED Old Man
A. The Command given.
(Eph 4:17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye
henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of
their mind,
(Eph 2:1) And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
(Eph 2:2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of
disobedience:
(Eph 2:3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the
mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
(2Co 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become
new.
(Gal 5:16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh.
(Col 1:10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
(2Pe 2:10) But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of
uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they,
selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
(1Jn 2:6) He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk,
even as he walked.
(2Th 3:11) For we hear that there are some which walk among you
disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
(Rom 6:4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness
of life.
A. The Command given.
B. The Conceit of the Gentiles
(Eph 4:17-19) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the
understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over
unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
A. The Command given.
B. The Conceit of the Gentiles
C. The Corruption of the old man
(Eph 4:20-22) But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the
former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Soiled clothes
Smelly clothes

I. Take off the PUTREFIED Old ManII. Put on the PURIFIED New Man
(Eph 4:23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
(Eph 4:24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and
true holiness.
A. The decision to Change
(Eph 4:23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
(Eph 4:24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and
true holiness.
(Rom 13:13) Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and
drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
(Rom 13:14) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision
for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
(Col 3:8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
communication out of your mouth.(Col 3:9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye
have put off the old man with his deeds;(Col 3:10) And have put on the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
(Col 3:11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
(Col 3:12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness,
longsuffering;
