• 2020 Vision –Public Sector •“The public sector will improve its energy

efficiency by 33% and will be seen to lead by example –showing all sectors what is possible

through strong, committed action”.•SI 542 of 2009, Public Sector must be...

What is an Energy Performance Contract ( EPC )• The important principal of an EPC is that energy

efficiency investment is paid for over time by the value of the energy savings delivered.

• The EPC undertake to improve energy efficiencies• The EPC guarantees the performance.• There is an agreed method of measuring and

verifying the performance

• Project Aims• To upgrade heating

infrastructure.• To develop a partnership

with the appropriate EPC, to enable correct solutions to be provided and managed to ensure energy reductions can be achieved over the life time of the contract.

What is the aim of this strategyThe Energy performance contract would provide the guaranteed energy savings .It will also provide the necessary expertise to manage those services to ensure their capital return

What will this achieve

•Reduce the dependency on the facility maintenance service contract•Provide the necessary training and exposure to capital return for on site staff.•Provide the asset management expertise to ensure KPI are achieved in accordance with contract requirements •The aim of this pilot project is to identify the potential for this financing and services management model across the Irish Prison Service Estate
