As per police sources, fami- ly members of a girl hailing from Dhansal area lodged a missing complaint with Jhajjar Kotli police station stating that their daughter aged around 25 years went missing yesterday. Acting over the complaint, a missing report has been entered in police station Jhajjar Kotli and hunt has been launched to trace-out the girl. Concern over delay in disposal of objections by election authorities Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 30: Jammu Welfare Organization (JWO) has taken strong exception to the lackadaisical approach adopted by Election authorities in disposing off objections filed by the organization regarding reservation of Ward No 1 for women candidates. The president of the organi- zation Kasturi Lal Gupta has filed the objections in the Office of CEO on March 14. Mr Gupta said that till date the organization was not inti- mated by the concerned author- ities that whether the objections were accepted or rejected. The JWO has urged the con- cerned authorities to decide on its representation at the earliest otherwise it will tantamount to delayed justice which implies denied justice. DULIAJAN (Assam), Mar 30: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today claimed that the insurgency situation has improved considerably in the last 18 months since BJP came to power at the Centre and appealed to all militant outfits in Assam to give up arms and come forward for talks. “The insurgency situation in the country has improved consid- erably and is under control during the last 18 months and I am not making this claim myself but political analysts have been point- ing this out,” Singh told an elec- tion rally here. It is a fact that “incidents keep happening in Assam and when Adivasis were killed by militants in 2014, immediately rushed to Guwahati and in a meeting with the Chief Minister had clearly stated that violence and terror will not be related at any cost”, he said. “As the Union Home Minister, I want send a message to all militants to give up the path of violence and arms. If they have any problem, they must end vio- lence and talk to us. We are pre- pared to hold talks and settle all issues only if there is no violence and killing of innocent people,” Singh said. He said, along with infiltra- tion, there has been huge inflow of fake currency notes from Bangladesh and it is a matter of great concern as it ultimately ends up controlling the economy. “Congress never paid atten- tion to this problem but we are committed to solve this problem and will check the entry of fake currency from the neighbouring country,” Singh said. Continuing his tirade at Congress, Singh said the party’s president accuses BJP of inciting violence but “most riots occur in Congress-ruled states and not in those where BJP is in power”. “The riots of 1983 in Nellie and the 1984 Delhi riots took place during Congress rule. The Congress should look into their conscience before making such baseless allegations,” Singh said. He said during the last two years of BJP rule at the Centre, there was no allegation of corrup- tion and the party has “zero-toler- ance towards corruption”. He referred to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as “a senior citizen whom he respects and will not like to comment on him”, but said “the Congress has ruined the state during the last 15 years of its rule with the problems of poverty, unemployment, power, road con- nectivity still persisting.” He said that the condition of tea garden workers was deplorable as even after “fifty years of independence, they were not under the Plantation Labour Act. Who stopped the Congress from implementing the Act in the gardens?” “People from all over the world come to see the tea gardens but are shocked by the deplorable condition of the workers. Let our government come to power in the state and we will not leave any stone unturned in improving their condition,” Singh said. Singh said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first Prime Minister to emphasise on the development of the North East and set up a separate ministry for the region while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated Rs 33,000 crore for the development of the region. “It is the BJP’s priority to con- nect each North Eastern states through roads, rail and Internet connectivity. The Centre is also committed to developing water- ways on the Brahmaputra with work on 17 waterways to start soon while rail connection from Agartala to West Bengal via Bangladesh will also start soon,” he added. The Prime Minister has also announced that “more than one crore poor people will be given free gas cylinders, farmers income will be doubled by 2022 and youths who want to work and earn will gain employment through skill development,” he said. “It was sure and certain that the BJP will come to power with the ABP-Nielson survey also con- firming that the party will form the government in Assam and I appeal to people to vote and make the party win with an absolute major- ity,” the minister added. (PTI) Insurgency situation has improved under NDA Govt: Rajnath SIVASAGAR/AMGURI, Mar 30: Slamming the BJP-led alliance in Assam as coming together of “two dangerous forces of communalism and divisiveness”, Sonia Gandhi today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “insulting” people of the state and going back on promises of develop- ment. The Congress President also took potshots at the Prime Minister for his remarks linking his humble origin as a tea seller with Assam tea and said “those working in the tea gardens as well as tribals are asking when will the good days (achche din) come.” ‘Achche din’ was Modi’s poll slogan in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Repeatedly claiming “insult” of Assamese and North-East people by BJP, Gandhi said the composite cul- ture of the state was in “danger” and if BJP-AGP-BPF Alliance Government came to power in the state, the “era of peace and development”, which she claimed was brought during the 15-year-rule of Tarun Gogoi in the state, would be under “threat”. Talking at length about the contribution of Congress in bringing peace and prosperity in Assam, Gandhi said “this time the composite culture of Assam is in danger because two dan- gers have come together here. One is communal and the other is divisive.” Positioning Congress as the counter-force to these powers, Gandhi asked, “Why so they oppose the Congress party and its workers? Because they know it well that Congress represents all sections of the Assamese society. They know that in 15 years of Gogoi’s rule, Assam has emerged as a peaceful and progressive state.” “When they had ruled the state, it was known for anarchy and extremism. If such people came to power, the era of peace and development which contin- ued for last 15 years will come under threat.” BJP’s ally was in power in Assam twice in the past. She alleged “discrimina- tion” against Assam by Modi government, and said, “Afterall, why brothers and sisters of North East and Assam are being insulted so much? Why Tarun Gogoi is being insulted this much? Why people of Assam are being insulted so much.? Gandhi’s emphasis on the alleged “insult” of Assam, Assamese and the state Chief Minister is somewhat akin to the strategy adopted by Nitish Kumar in Bihar, who had made an issue out of certain remarks by Modi projecting them as insult of Bihar. The Congress President’s all out attack on the BJP has come at a time when some opinion polls and experts have given the BJP an edge in Assam, where Congress is battling an anti- incumbency of 15 years. Gandhi said that she wants to ask BJP’s friends here whether they remember the “discrimination” done by Modi government to Assam. “Can anybody forget that how Modi Government had refused to provide funds for relief during floods in Assam? Can you forget that Modi gov- ernment has reduced the fund- ing of schemes made for the upflift of Assam during the UPA government? Can you for- get how Modi government snatched the special state status of Assam, which was given by the UPA Government during the Prime Ministership of Manmohan Singh. “We had given a very good system of autonomous council for Assam’s development. What has Modi Government done? What are they doing? Modi government is making all efforts to finish the autonomy of this council. Prime Minister Modi did not think of talking to Assam or other states of North East on the Naga accord. Now nobody knows what happened to this accord,” Gandhi said, accusing the BJP government at Centre of repeatedly “insulting” Assam. Gandhi took a jbe at the Prime Minister, who had an election rally a few days ago recalled that he sold Assam tea to energise others and therefore shared a special bond with the people of the tea-producing state. “Prime Minister Modi prais- es Assam tea but those working in the tea garden are passing through tough times during his rule. Those working in the tea gardens and the tribals are ask- ing Modi ji when will our good days come. Modi government is trying to snatch the right of cheap foodgrains available to the tea garden workers,” she alleged and congratulated Gogoi and Congress leader Anjan Dutta for “having opposed and stopped” such a plan. She also said that Modi should tell when he will SC sta- tus to tea garden workers. “I would ask the Prime Minister why did he reduce the budget for minorities and trib- als. What is happening ever since Modi-led NDA govern- ment has come to power. Price rise is breaking the back of peo- ple. The prices of even essential medicines have gone beyond the reach of common man,” Gandhi said. Repeatedly claiming“insult” of Assamese andNorth-East people by BJP,Gandhi said the composite cul-ture of the state was in “danger”and if BJP-AGP-BPF AllianceGovernment came to power inthe state, the “era of peace anddevelopment”, which sheclaimed was brought during the15-year-rule of Tarun Gogoi inthe state, would be under“threat”.
Talking at length about thecontribution of Congress inbringing peace and prosperity inAssam, Gandhi said “this timethe composite culture of Assamis in danger because two dan-gers have come together here.One is communal and the otheris divisive.”
Positioning Congress as thecounter-force to these powers,Gandhi asked, “Why so theyoppose the Congress party andits workers? Because they knowit well that Congress representsall sections of the Assamesesociety. They know that in 15years of Gogoi’s rule, Assamhas emerged as a peaceful andprogressive state.”
“When they had ruled thestate, it was known for anarchyand extremism. If such peoplecame to power, the era of peaceand development which contin-ued for last 15 years will comeunder threat.”
BJP’s ally was in power inAssam twice in the past.
She alleged “discrimina-tion” against Assam by Modigovernment, and said, “Afterall,why brothers and sisters of
North East and Assam are beinginsulted so much? Why TarunGogoi is being insulted thismuch? Why people of Assamare being insulted so much.?
Gandhi’s emphasis on thealleged “insult” of Assam,Assamese and the state ChiefMinister is somewhat akin tothe strategy adopted by NitishKumar in Bihar, who had madean issue out of certain remarksby Modi projecting them asinsult of Bihar.
The Congress President’s allout attack on the BJP has comeat a time when some opinionpolls and experts have given theBJP an edge in Assam, whereCongress is battling an anti-incumbency of 15 years.
Gandhi said that she wantsto ask BJP’s friends herewhether they remember the“discrimination” done by Modigovernment to Assam.
“Can anybody forget thathow Modi Government hadrefused to provide funds forrelief during floods in Assam?Can you forget that Modi gov-ernment has reduced the fund-ing of schemes made for theupflift of Assam during theUPA government? Can you for-get how Modi governmentsnatched the special state statusof Assam, which was given bythe UPA Government during thePrime Ministership ofManmohan Singh.
“We had given a very goodsystem of autonomous councilfor Assam’s development. Whathas Modi Government done?What are they doing? Modigovernment is making allefforts to finish the autonomy ofthis council. Prime MinisterModi did not think of talking toAssam or other states of NorthEast on the Naga accord. Nownobody knows what happenedto this accord,” Gandhi said,accusing the BJP government atCentre of repeatedly “insulting”Assam.

Modi government istrying to snatch the right ofcheap foodgrains available tothe tea garden workers,” shealleged and congratulatedGogoi and Congress leaderAnjan Dutta for “havingopposed and stopped” such aplan.
She also said that Modishould tell when he will SC sta-tus to tea garden workers.
“I would ask the PrimeMinister why did he reduce thebudget for minorities and trib-als. What is happening eversince Modi-led NDA govern-ment has come to power. Pricerise is breaking the back of peo-ple. The prices of even essentialmedicines have gone beyondthe reach of common man,”Gandhi said.

As per police sources, SSPJammu Dr Sunil Gupta sus-pended Head ConstableMohammad Iqbal (Munshi) andASI Khurshid Ahmed of PeerMitha police station for bailingout a thief on Court orders,without informing the higherofficials.
“A circular was issued thatthe accused if gets bail, shouldbe handed over to other policestations, if cases stands regis-tered against him/her, but twoofficials of Peer Mitha policestation bailed out a thief withoutinforming the higher-ups”, theyadded.

SRINAGAR, Mar 30:Senior leader of NationalConference and MLA Kangan,Mian Altaf Ahmad has demand-ed immediate compensation forthe fire victims of Kullan andGagengar in Kangan where tworesidential houses were gutted.
In a statement Mr Altaf saidthat one residential house wascompletely gutted in a fire inci-dent in Gagengar while anotherhouse in the nearby area ofZirpora Kullan, in which threefamilies were putting up werecompletely damaged in a fireincident on Wednesday.
While expressing shockover these incidents, heimpressed upon theAdministration to provide themcompensation as soon as possi-ble.
