CONCLUSION After 4,500 hours of exposure the control flange had significantly deteriorated with high levels of corrosion, whereas the Enviropeel coated sample was completely unaffected – preserved in its original condition. Bolt threads, nuts and all encapsulated surfaces were completely corrosion-free, proving Enviropeel’s effectiveness in eliminating corrosion. The protected substrate showed no signs of deterioration and inhibitor levels in the Enviropeel after 4500 hours remained satisfactory. After 7,500 hours, the control flange has suffered even greater deterioration, whereas both the 4,500 and 7,500 hour samples showed no changes with the substrates well protected. There were no signs of discoloration in the E170 material and the level of inhibitors in the coating and on the substrates was satisfactory. A&E Systems will continue the test until 10,000 hours with the same configuration and some minor technical improvements. This test provides further confirmation of Enviropeel’s impeccable performance record, from successful 3000 hours pre-release testing in 1997 to the following 16 years of successful applications in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Environmental note: E170 is non-toxic, VOC free, reusable and recyclable. The E170 materials used in this test contained material directly recycled from previous applications.
