ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
Problems of Well-Being
Environmental Crisis
Environmental problems affect all of us around the world.
Our planet is poised at the brink of a severe environmental crisis. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. We
are in a state of planetary emergency, with environmental problems piling up high
around us. Unless we address the various issues prudently and seriously we are
surely doomed for disaster.
It Affects All Of Us!
Environmental problems extend beyond
boarders and spread far from their
local source to reach every corner of
the world. The impending danger to
all people, plants, and animals on
earth make this social issue a hugely
important and urgent matter.
Take Action For Our Future!
Environmental Problems
Water Pollution
Land Pollution
Global Warming
Air Pollution
Depletion Of Natural Resources
Water PollutionPollutants are discharged into water bodies without
adequate treatment to remove harmful
compounds. Water pollution affects plants and
organisms living in these bodies of water. In almost
all cases the effect is damaging not only to
individual species and populations, but also to the
natural biological communities.
Land Pollution
The deposition of solid or liquid waste materials on land or underground can contaminate the soil and groundwater, threaten public health, and cause unsightly conditions and nuisances.
Global Warming
Global warming is an increase in the
earth’s average atmospheric
temperature that causes corresponding
changes in the climate.
Air Pollution
The introduction of particulates, biological
molecules, or other harmful materials
into the Earth's atmosphere, causing
disease, death to humans and damage
other living organisms.
Depletion Of Natural Resources
The vast majority of resources are
exhaustible, which means they have a
finite quantity, and can be depleted if
managed improperly.
Conflict Perspective TheoryWealth, profit and power as an underline cause
for environmental problems.
Wealthy nations deplete resources more than poor nations, they also pollute and create more waste.
The wealthiest 20% is responsible for 86% of total private consumption.
The pursuit of wealth leads to money being a priority over damage to the environment (planed obsolescence).
Power and wealth influences politics and the public’s belief.
