1.0 About Us

Eco Resources, Premium Waste Management and Coastal Waste are locally owned and operated by two West Australian families. Since its inception in 2011 Eco Resources has recycled over 2 million tonnes of waste that was originally destined for landfill. Premium Waste Management landfill located in Waroona was acquired in late 2014 and now has a transfer station, concrete crushing facility and timber recycling facility. All built for recycling waste in Waroona and from the surrounding areas including Perth and diverting the waste from its own landfill facility located onsite. Coastal Waste Management, a local skip bin company was acquired in 2016 and has now grown to a large fleet of trucks and bins servicing everywhere from Illuka to Waroona with all mixed waste being transported to either Eco Resources or Waroona for processing and recycling.

2.0 Aim

Eco Resources group of companies aims to greatly reduce the amount of waste generated by the construction & demolition industry as well as residential supply from going straight to landfill unsorted and unprocessed. Too often mixed builders rubble (loads of mixed bricks, paper, plastic, timber, strapping, plasterboard, metals etc) that is deemed too mixed to sort and salvage is transported and tipped off directly into landfill. Eco Resources currently provides a service at its Hope Valley and Waroona facilities which deals directly with this type of mixed waste for the purpose of sorting, screening, crushing and processing waste into their individual products and transporting recyclable materials out or making available for collection. With a new location added in Carabooda (Eco North) we will be able to transport even more unsorted waste to one of our other locations equipped with machinery to sort and process the waste into usable material to circulate back into the industry over and over again. Eco Resources aims to increase our recycling rate in WA from one of the lowest in the country to the highest and with 3 major locations we are in a promising position to make this happen.

5.0 Environmental Monitoring and Audit Plan

Eco Resources shall monitor the environmental management of aspects on site.

In support of the environmental monitoring and audit plan, The OHS/Environmental Representative on site shall observe and record general observations and activities associated with the environment;

• during unusual or extreme weather conditions;

• when the likelihood of air quality may be affected and be of risk to workers and people in the area;

• should noise from plant or other activities impose a risk or receive a complaint from people working in the immediate area;

• when there is a risk of fire, or

• where the Aspects and Impacts Register identifies a risk that requires monitoring

Emissions – Hazardous Substances

Eco Resources shall ensure that hydrocarbons, other hazardous liquids and asbestos are prohibited from the site (unless licensing allows) and are not discharged into surface water, groundwater, land or air.

Eco Resources shall have in place plans for the management of spills or leakage of hazardous substances should they occur. These shall include

• the effective monitoring of solid waste being tipped off onto site;

• ensuring all operators are aware of the types of prohibited hazardous substances;

• and the correct measures and contingency plans to contain and eradicate the hazardous substance from the site before it can cause any environmental pollution.

Should a hazardous liquid substance be spilt or asbestos be found, contingency plans shall be in place to have the contamination confined within the spilt area until the incident can be effectively managed and reported. An Incident Report Form will be completed and subsequent fines and charges for the cleaning and decontaminated of the affected areas will be applied to the operator found to be carrying the contaminated waste product.
