October 2 Facilitation Skills for Experiential Environmental Education
Toni Spencer. This workshop covers creative practices and tools for educators and outdoor leaders to
help inspire connection with the natural world. Using simple techniques for outdoor and classroom settings we will explore how to lead groups into a more vital
relationship with their environment and to cultivate a curiosity about nature, place and sustainability, with a focus on tailoring these approaches to your specific work
context. Cost: 115/95/70

October 8 Advanced Forest Skills Chris Salisbury
This day will look at skills to give teachers and environmental educators more confidence in leading groups outdoors. The course will focus on
improving more of your own resources and knowledge in fire-by-friction, natural cordage, wild foods and campfire cooking. It is ideal for those who
have done the introduction day or have some experience of basic forest skills. Cost: 115/95/70
October 16 Forest Toys, Crafts and Art Patrick Harrison
Making all sorts of fascinating objects out of forest materials. Unusual ideas that will broaden the potential of familiar natural resources, and
provide fresh pathways for the creative mind. A whole day in the woods to pamper your innate curiosity for the outdoor world and resource
yourself with creative projects to offer as activities.
Cost: 115/95/70
October 21 Emotional Literacy Jon Cree
An understanding of emotional literacy is essential to help young people develop self-esteem and so become socially and educationally
successful. Through relaxation, play and story in the natural world this day will explore the four core emotions and provides a real practical way of
working with emotional intelligence, supporting emotional literacy programmes and the new agenda for emotional well being in schools. Cost:
115/95/70
October 22 Leading Earthwalks From Connection to Kinship Jon Cree
With a new publication coming out in 2014 from the Institute of Earth Education, this is the perfect opportunity to revise and review the practice of
leading Earthwalks with some dynamic new activities that focus on our kinship and reverence for the natural world. A course to inspire those new
to this method of nature connection, and to reinvigorate and support more experienced educators.
Cost: 115/95/70
October 24-27 Muir Trek Leadership Training Jon Cree
Inspired by the wilderness journeys of John Muir, the goal of the Muir Trek is an internal one to be conscious and joyful in being outdoors, in
direct contact with the earth. There is time to sit, watch and reflect on the natural world, to saunter and wander over relatively short distances.
This rare opportunity will train and qualify you to lead these zestful and meaningful sunrise-to-sunset journeys. Cost: 375/325/295
November 5 Leafy Pages and Wild Words Gordon MacLellan
Instant stories, sudden poems, an excitement of words: when we step outside into a wider environment, there are adventures everywhere and this
workshop will explore ways of building those tales with groups. Alongside our storymaking, we will explore ways for recording our tales in
storysticks and bundles, big books, small books, one piece books, pop-up landscapes and fold-out theatres. A workshop for anyone who wants
to find new or extend their existing ways of playing with stories with groups or just for themselves. Cost: 115/95/70
November 13 Which Story? Right time, Right place! Alida Gersie
With the increased interest in narrative forms for educational objectives its clear that all too often inappropriate stories are offered speculatively,
with a diminished impact. This course provides tools and inspiration to connect you to the story and the story to the opportunity of the place and the people gathered
before you.
Cost: 115/95/70
N.B. Price structure is for organisations/charities, voluntary organisations/individuals
