Environmental Legislation
Hamworthy Combustion Engineering Ltd has developed the
staged-air principle to such a high level that the Enviromix burner
meets almost all statutory worldwide NOx emission requirements.
This can be proven by the acceptance of the product by countries
such as Germany, Sweden and the United States, who have some
of the most stringent environmental legislation in the world
Additional Certification Russian Certification
(Gosgortechnadzor)

Windbox
Vertical cylindrical heater installation The primary air is mixed with the total quantity of fuel producing a
rich flame, which is both relatively cool and deficient in oxygen
conditions that inhibit NOx formation. Secondary air is then
introduced downstream of the primary air zone at which point
combustion is completed in an environment which is sufficiently
cool to limit thermal NOx production.
The windbox design was established utilising Hamworthy’s
extensive flow-modelling capabilities in order to achieve optimum
air distribution throughout the burner, ensuring high efficiency
combustion performance combined with minimal NOx formation.
