• Payment: Schools can issue payment by electronic fund transfer in the first instance. Please reference your school roll number and the word SPAR5s on the online payment information.• Alternatively, schools can forward a cheque for €50 made payable to FAI SCHOOLS to your relevant Provincial Organiser. The school roll number must be included on the back of the cheque.

The SPAR FAI Primary School 5s is the biggest competition in primary schools’ soccerThe programme involved 37,448 students last year with over 1,696 schools participating. The competition has been running since the mid 1990s and the programme promises to be bigger and better this year. Local competitions will begin at the end of February or early March with Regional qualifiers taking place in April. The Provincial Finals will take place in late April while the National Finals will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.There are six sections to cater for all school sizes (small, medium and large schools). There are separate competitions for boys and girls but girls are permitted to play in the boys’ competitions.

Rules of the gameThe laws of Association Football shall
apply, with the following adaptations:
LAw 1: FIeLd oF PLAyThe field of play must be rectangular with the following dimensions:Maximum length shall be 50 metres with minimum length 30 metres. The maximum width shall be 35 metres with
minimum width 20 metres.The recommended field shall be 40 metres x 25 metres.The centre circle shall have a radius of 5
metres.The penalty area shall have a width of 15
metres and a length of 10 metres.The penalty spot shall be 8 metres from
goal line.The goals shall measure 6 feet high by 16 feet wide (4.87m X 1.82m).
LAw 2: The BALLA size five weighted football (370gms) must be used for all competitions.
LAw 3: No. oF PLAyeRSEight players per squad. No players, other than those eight, shall be togged
out on the side line.Only five players, including a goalkeeper, may be on the field of play
at any time.
LAw 4: SuBSTITuTIoNSTeams are allowed unlimited substitutions during the game on a roll
on/roll off basis. The referee must be alerted of any changes. In the case of a
goalkeeper substitution, he/she must wear a different colour jersey to the outfield players at all times.
LAw 5: duRATIoN oF GAMeEach game shall consist of a maximum of 20 minutes. Half time break, if required, shall not exceed five minutes.
Total playing time per team per blitz shall not exceed 80 minutes during the
course of the day.
LAw 6: oFFSIdeThere shall be no offside in any of the games.
LAw 7: FouLS ANd MISCoNduCTIf a player receives a red card or two consecutive yellow cards in a game; that player shall be suspended for the next match on the day or the first match
of the next day’s competition. Violent conduct, abuse of referee, opposing players, teacher or foul and abusive language shall be suspended for the next day’s competition.Such a ban can be extended at the discretion of the local co-ordinator depending on the referee’s report.

LAw 10: ThRow INWhen the ball goes over the sideline (or touches the wall where the pitch has a surrounding wall) the game will restart with a throw-in.
LAw 11: GoALKeePeRSThe goalkeeper will throw out the ball at all times. There will be no restrictions on any player or the goalkeeper entering or leaving the penalty area. When the ball goes out wide over the end lines, the
goalkeeper must throw the ball back into play. When the goalkeeper catches the ball, he/she must throw it back into play. The goalkeeper is not permitted to pick the ball up following a back pass.
LAw 12: TIP-oFFPlayers cannot score directly from tip off.
LAw 13: PLAyeRS eQuIPMeNTAll players, including substitutes, must wear shin guards. A player will not be allowed to participate if he/she is not wearing a complete and safe set of shin guards. For health and safety purposes, players are not permitted to wear glasses. Please note only sports goggles are permitted.

If still tied, sudden death penalties to apply.• In the event of more than two teams are tied, the following criteria shall be applied: • Goal Difference • Goals Scored• If still tied, a round robin penalty shoot-out competition shall take place with the teams. Three kicks each, with sudden death penalties to be used if still tied. At the end, the top two teams will take part in a further penaltyshootout to decidethe winner.

PARTICIPATIoNIn advance of the day of competition, schools will receive a player registration
list and must follow the procedure below:• A squad of no more than eight players
must be submitted to the local co-ordinator on the day of the competition.
• Full name of each player and the player’s date of birth should be included
on the registration list.• Signature of the teacher in charge must be on the registration list.• Once submitted, no changes can be made to the squad for that day’s competition. • Player’s registration lists will be available for inspection by other teachers during the competition.• Teachers should be aware that they are responsible for the behaviour and supervision of their players. Any students
attending these blitz days as spectators,
should also by under the supervision of
teachers. • All schools must agree and abide by the rules of the competition.
