3. Once logged in, create a new entry.
4. Select Create new Entry under British Short Film and British Short Animation. Note that the
Award’s entry status and deadline appears below the black title box.
5. The entry form is divided into sections and designed such that the following section
appears only after certain mandatory fields have been completed. If you need to gather
more information before progressing to the next section, then click Save at the top or
bottom of the form at any point to allow you to leave and return without losing any data.
You’ll be able to return to the entry and update the information as many times as
necessary.
6. Begin by completing the Basic Details.
7. If you enter information which renders your entry ineligible, a message will appear to
explain why.
8. Please ensure you read all text on the entry form to ensure you understand what
information we require and why. Errors or incomplete details can result in your entry being
temporarily withdrawn by BAFTA, which will slow down your submission.
9. At the bottom of Basic Details you will be prompted to select whether you would like to
enter your film into British Short Film or British Short Animation.
10. British Short Film only: In order to qualify for the Award, your short film must have been
screened or accepted onto at least one of BAFTA’s recognised festivals, a list of which
can be found here;
Please select all festivals that your film has either screened or been accepted at. You will
be required to upload proof of this, either in the form of an email from the festival’s
organisers, or a copy of the festival programme page listing your film.
11. In The Writers, Directors and Producers section, you will first be asked to provide
information about your film’s key credits. In this section and with all credits, please be as
detailed with your information as possible.
When prompted, only select the number of individuals with full writer, director and/or
producer credits on your film. Co-writers, co-directors, executive producers,
cinematographers and so on are not to be included in this first section.
12. For each full credit, you will be asked whether that individual is a candidate for
nomination. These are the individuals who will be named nominees, should the film
receive a nomination.
Nb. The order in which individuals are entered on this form are the order in which they
would appear on all BAFTA literature pertaining to the Award, should the film receive a
nomination.
13. In the Other Crew and Cast sections, please include each individual’s nationality where
possible. As British Short Film and British Animation are available to British productions only,
it is important we receive as much information as possible to determine your film’s
nationality.
If a particular credit was not present on the film, then leave the fields blank.
14. In the Production section, you will be required to provide information to help BAFTA
determine whether the film’s production qualifies as British according to BAFTA’s rules,
which can be found here.
After reviewing your entry, BAFTA will contact you if there are any further questions about
the nationality of your film.
15. In the Additional Submission Materials section, you will be required to upload the
following;
Short biographies of the writer(s), director and producer(s)
Front credit cards/rollers
End credit cards/rollers
These are mandatory, and you will not be able to complete your submission until they
have been uploaded.
To upload, click choose file and navigate to the relevant document on your computer.
16. All entrants to British Short Film and British Short Animation are required to send a DVD
copy of their film to BAFTA. This is to ensure Jurors can view your film, should any problems
arise with BAFTA’s online viewing site.
All entrants are also required to send either a DCP or Beta of their film to BAFTA, which are
used to project longlisted films for jurors at BAFTA’s headquarters. The deadline for receipt
of this is Tuesday 26 November. Should you want your DCP/Beta to be returned, you will
be required to cover all costs.
17. Before accepting the declaration at the bottom of the form, please double check that
the credits you have entered are exactly as they appear on the released prints of the film.
Any discrepancies will result in your entry being temporarily withdrawn by BAFTA, which will
slow down your submission.
18. Once you are happy that the information you have entered is as detailed and accurate
as possible, click Check Entry at the bottom corner of the form.
Any errors will be highlighted in red and must be corrected before re-checking your entry
19. Once all errors have been corrected and you have clicked Check Entry, you will be taken
to the Entry Summary page. This page will list all categories in which your film will be
entered. If you are happy with your entry, click Submit.
You will then be taken to this page:
You will receive an automated email receipt confirming the details of your entry. When you return
to the Dashboard, please note that your entry will now be listed under Submitted Entries.
