Students will become familiar with drawing techniques in graphite, charcoal, pastel, and ink. College Application Essay Workshop-*ONLINE Online Class-July 10th-August 18th Grades 11 & 12 ($300) This course is essential for students who will be entering the 11th or 12th grade in September 2017. Students will discover what the college application essay should be and how to make their essays stand out among other applicants. Students will have their essays ready to go before September. This unique course will span six weeks of the summer allowing for various schedule types and will take place on the BlackBoard online learning system. Students will be able to work at their own pace while receiving individualized attention from an SJV English teacher.

Communication Technology-*SJVHS-FPPA M-Th, July 10th-July 27th Grades 9 & 10 9-12pm ($350) This three week course emphasizes the new skills required to use the Tablet PC with SJVHS’s network. Keyboarding techniques, word processing (including MLA format for term paper production), presentation & spreadsheet software are used. Use of computer peripherals, saving and backing up files, as well as data organiza-tion skills will be covered. *SJVHS STUDENTS RECEIVE THEIR TABLET PC’S EARLY!*

Effective & Creative Writing-*SJVHS-FPPA M-Th, July 10th-27th 1pm-3:30pm ($350) Grades 9 & 10 This three week course focuses on multiple paragraph development, uses of transi-tions, various expository writing styles and formal/informal writing (letters, re-sumes, etc.). Students will also explore various creative writing styles. This course also offers students an avenue to writing enhancement outside of formal literature study. *SJVHS STUDENTS RECEIVE THEIR TABLET PC’S EARLY!*

Freshmen Readiness Review: Math and/or English M-F, June 26– 30th, July 5th—7th ( 7/3 & 4 holiday no school) English: 9am-10am Math: 10:15am-11:15am ($180 each or $325 for both) These two week courses will prepare incoming freshmen to be on pace with the freshmen level curriculum in Math and/or English. They are strongly suggested for students who did not perform well on the High School Placement Test and for stu-dents who need a “refresher” before beginning 9th grade in September.

Study & Organizational Skills M-Th, August 7th –10th Grades 9-12: 10am-12pm Grades 6-8: 1pm-3pm ($250) Excellent study and organizational skills are what sets a good student apart from an exceptional one. In this class, students will be given a serious set of skills that they will be able to use throughout high school and beyond. Areas of emphasis in-clude goal setting, self-organization, time management, note taking, studying, memory & retention and test taking. This class can transform students’ habits and set them up for success in and out of the classroom.

Code Camp ($500 per session) for Ages 13 to 19 Three 5-week cohorts are available: May - June, June - July, and August Summer I - Session runs from May 23 until June 22* Summer II - Session runs from June 27 until July 27 Summer III -Session runs from August 1 until August 31

Code Camp at SJV is designed to teach students the fundamentals of Software de-velopment. During your 5 weeks with us you and your camp-lead will spend time covering a range of programming concepts. Code Camp has developed a custom-

ized curriculum covering topics such as: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and programming fundamentals. This course is appropriate for those with no coding experience and

students who already code but would like to enhance their skills. *For SJVHS Seniors, Classes will be on BlackBoard for nights that conflict with Graduation events

Foreign Language Immersion Classes Grades 6 - 9

($350 each class) Introduction to German M-Th, June 26th thru July 13 or Introduction to French M-Th, July 17 thru August 3 or Introduction to Spanish M-Th, July 10 thru July 27 The immersion camps will be conducted predominantly in the foreign language, and

participants will be actively engaged throughout the course in language experiences that follow the theme of a “trip.” There will be a variety of activities including mu-

sic, art, stories, and creative movement. No prior language experience is necessary. *Minimum of 8 students necessary to run each of these classes.
