Activity 2Let us play the game - March around the Alphabet.Write each letter of the alphabet on large index cards. Be sure to put the capital letter on one side and the lowercase on the other.• Spread the letter cards out on the floor.• Seat the children in a circle around the letter cards.• As you play an upbeat music (any choice), the children ‘March

around the Alphabet’.• Instruct the children to freeze, bend down, and pick up a letter near

their toes when the music stops.• Now the children hold their letter cards and wait for the teacher to

Brainstorm Recap the letters of the alphabet differentiating the vowels and

consonants by playing a game with the children. Ask them to clap their hands when the letter is a vowel and

touch their head when it is a consonant.

Fun time

Activity 1ABC NounsWrite the letters A to Z on flashcards, and put them in a pile. In a second pile, place flashcards with the words ‘person,’ ‘place,’ ‘thing,’ ‘animal’ on them. Instruct two students to stand up. Ask them to read a letter from one pile and give a word starting with that letter. Then they should match the type of noun from the other pile to that word. The student who gets the answer correct first, advances to the next student’s desk, and the other student sits down.

Activity 2Guess the Sport Ask students to pick a sport that they enjoy. Let them write a list of nouns that relate to the sport. (For example, for basketball, they might choose ‘court,’ ‘basket,’ ‘backboard,’ and ‘rim.’) Have them stand up and read their lists aloud, and encourage the rest of the class to guess the name of the sport the list describes.
