All Creatures Great and Small James Herriot’s adventures as a veterinarian in 1930s

Yorkshire get a glorious new adaptation in a seven-part seriesbased on his beloved stories. Newcomer Nicholas Ralph willmake his television debut as the iconic vet who becamerenowned for his inspiring humor, compassion and love of life.The 1970s adaptation, which aired on public broadcasting, wasa favorite of millions of viewers. Chronicling the heartwarm-ing and humorous adventures of a young country vet, thebooks introduced readers to his unconventional mentor andthe cast of farmers and townsfolk who lived and worked in theYorkshire Dales. This new adaptation will preserve the richspirit, tone and values of Herriot’s iconic characters and hisstories of country life in the North of England. �

Join Our Inaugural Book Club!Welcome to our newest project, Maine Public’s All Books Considered

Book Club. The book club will feature preeminent national and Maineauthors engaging with readers across Maine to discuss their books –both fiction and non-fiction. We will take on six books over the course of

2021 – featuring one book every two months. Bookstores across Maine are offering a discount each month on each selected titleincluding Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shops, BookStacks in Bucksport, Print in Portland, and Left Bank Books in Belfast.

Once we announce each selected book, we will give you over a month to read the title. Then we will feature the authorof the title in a LIVE Zoom event where the author will talk about his/her career, the thinking/motivation behind thefeatured title, and then will read a section of the featured title. They will then answer questions from a Maine Public host,generated by the host, and culled from the audience via the “chat” function. Maine Public’s All Books Considered BookClub launches this December with the first book club event slated for the end of January/early February. THE ROCHESTER, NY, chamber choir Madrigalia, and itsartistic director Cary Ratcliff present a concert that celebrates theexcitement and joy of the holiday season. Madrigalia is joinedby the Rochester Bach Children’s Choir for traditional carolsaccompanied by flute, violin and piano. The group appears reg-ularly with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester

Chamber Orchestra, and other area ensembles. They tour annually, singing venues that include the National Cathedral inWashington, DC and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. This one-hour program, recorded live in concert in 2019,features beautiful music by Stephen Paulus, Harold Darke, Tomas Luis de Victoria, J.S. Bach, Vince Guaraldi and others.

The festive productionfeatures nearly 800 musicians and performers, includingBelmont University students, School of Music faculty andthe Nashville Children’s Choir.
