• I-4 focus• 4 segments between I-95 and US-27• “Floodgate message” capability to highlight major

incidents/issues across all Central Florida roads• Voice recognition interface – determines segment by

• Purpose• To demonstrate the wide variety of operational functions

that are enabled or enhanced with a surface transportation security and reliability information system

• Four year, $20M+ program – 11 projects• Official start date – May 1, 2003• Two years to design/deployment• Two years operational evaluation• Statewide project, with a focus on Central Florida• Leverages $80M+ in ongoing 2002-2004 investments

• Will provide travel times as standard messages – 24/7• Travel times - 5 minute increments (rounded based on traffic trend)

• Automatically posted to 511 and DMS

• Once CRS determines travel time exceeds a predetermined threshold, CRS to alert operator to record a custom 511 message

• 511 messages for State Roads will be referred to by both their number and street name

• Operator recorded messages may include incidents, lane closures, travel times, and significant weather conditions

• “Floodgate” messages – major events, incidents, closures (on or off covered roads), AMBER Alerts, evacuation messages, etc.
