The better you get at drawing real-life objects, the better you'll eventually be at putting ideas on paper. For example when you are doing something that your hand is free, like being on the phone. For starting you can bring paper and pencil and then start drawing basic shapes, because practicing them will help you for harder and more complicate drawings.
