Registration Information Please be sure to read this section carefully. The registration process, fees, and payment differ for some programs. Pre-registration is preferred; if you are interested in a program, you can fill out the appropriate registration form and mail it as directed. You may also register in person. Please be sure to follow the dates and instructions that appear on the registration form. Mail-in registration takes place from 6 weeks before the onset of a program or special event until 2 weeks before the onset. After this 4-week period, you must register in person at the Englewood Recreation Department. Please be patient. Our staff will process each registration and mail you results. Please register early; many activities have limited enrollment. In some cases, you may be placed on a waiting list and/or have your check returned. We make every attempt to maximize participation in all of our programs. Activities without sufficient enrollment may be cancelled. Last minute registration affects other participants. Non-Resident Policy: Programs are open to Englewood residents on a first priority basis, with consideration for non-residents given after the residential registration deadline. Non-residents shall pay an additional participation fee. We reserve the right to exclude or limit participation of non-residents in programs and activities. Program Cancellations: The Department reserves the right to add or cancel programs and to alter schedules. If Englewood Public Schools are closed due to weather or holidays, all programs in any of the schools that day are also cancelled. Refund Policy: Refunds are given only if the department cancels a program. There will be no cash refunds. Refunds will be by City check and returned according to the Finance Dept. bill-paying schedule through the mail (allow 4-6 weeks for refund) *Please note: Supervision is not provided outside many of the buildings and facilities. Please escort your child to the activity and pick them up promptly at the time indicated. Any persons found participating in a program in which he or she is not properly registered will be ejected from the activity. Falsification of information is grounds for removal from the program without reimbursement. Americans with Disabilities: The City of Englewood is committed to providing recreational opportunities for special populations who are developmentally or physically disabled. It is our policy, whenever possible, to mainstream individuals as part of our regular programming.

Code of Conduct

The Department of Recreation advocates and supports youth and adult programs in Englewood. The staff prides itself in offering educational opportunities through leisure experiences. Participation in programs is subject to the observance of rules and procedures. The activities outlined below are strictly prohibited. Any participants or staff members who violate this code are subject to discipline, up to and including removal from the program.

• Abusive language towards a staff member, volunteer, or another participant • Discourtesy or rudeness to a fellow participant, staff member, or volunteer • Verbal, physical, or visual harassment of another participant, staff member, or

volunteer • Bullying or taking unfair advantage of any participant • Failure to cooperate with adult supervisor/leader/mentor • Possession or usage of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs on the City of

Englewood property or reporting to the program while under the influence of drugs or alcohol

• Possession of dangerous or unauthorized materials such as firearms, weapons, or other similar items on City property

• Conduct endangering the life, safety, health, or well being of others • Failure to leave area in the condition in which you found it, including restrooms,

gym, hallways, and any other area used. • Failure to follow any Department of Recreation policy or procedures

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT

Englewood Recreation Department reaches out to the community during our summer season by hiring Englewood residents to staff our summer activities and programs. Below you will find information regarding our summer employment and the application process. Work Force Readiness Seminar: Entrepreneurship & Personal Finance Prospective students will indulge in creative thinking and problem solving activities as well as learn to apply fundamentals of completing applications for the interview process. They will also learn how to set goals, plan, budget, and manage needs versus wants. The badges you are issued are registered and are to be used ONLY by the person to whom the badge is assigned. If used by any other person, the badge will be confiscated and the owner will be suspended from further pool use. BADGES ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. Misuse of membership badges will revoke all swimming privileges for the remainder of the season. Where membership fees are involves, no refund will be made. No one will be admitted if wearing an improper badge. A LOST BADGE must be reported immediately to the pool office. Replacements of badges may be obtained at the recreation office. There will be a non-refundable service charge of $15.00 for replacing lost or damaged badges (as per City Ordinance 87-20).

Pool Rules and Regulations The Recreation Department has delegated full authority to its Pool Manager and staff. You can make their job easier by complying with the rules and regulations or be subject to suspension of pool privileges for which the Department of Recreation will be immediately notified. The Pool Manager, Assistant Manager and authorized staff members may immediately suspend any individual or guest for infractions of the following rules and regulations. PARENTS ARE REQUESTED TO ACQUAINT THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN WITH ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS. *The pool staff has carefully considered the following for the protection and benefit of all.

General Guidelines Children under 8 years of age will not be permitted within the pool grounds at any time unless accompanied by a person at least 16 years of age. An adult must supervise children in the wading pool. Parents are requested to keep children who are not toilet trained out of the wading pool. Playpens, baby carriages, strollers, etc. WILL NOT be allowed on the pool deck. Proper swim attire with lining or approved scuba wear. There will be absolutely NO HORSEPLAY in the pool. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Health and Safety Admissions to the pool shall be refused to anyone with colds, inflamed eyes, infections or wearing bandages. Upon written medical approval, exceptions may be made. Expectorating and nose blowing in pool is PROHIBITED. Street shoes will NOT be worn on the pool deck. No PETS will be allowed on the property at any time. Underwater breathing devices will NOT be permitted. No devices intended to keep a person afloat will be permitted in the pool. Water goggles are permitted. NO glass containers of any kind permitted on pool grounds. No diving is permitted. Guards that are on duty must concentrate on the well being of all, in and around the pool. Please don’t speak with them unless it is absolutely necessary. Food is permitted in designated picnic areas ONLY. NO outside food or coolers. All persons using any of the pool facilities do so at their own risk. The city of Englewood, Recreation Department will NOT be responsible for loss or damage to personal property or for personal injury. *Please Note: Those using facilities during unauthorized periods will be subject to fine or imprisonment, or both (as per Ordinance #1960, City of Englewood.)

Playground Workshops Pony Rides (Petite Equestrian Program)

This unique five-day program provides an exciting and inexpensive introduction to the wonderful world equines. Our workshop is designed to be fun filled with an emphasis on teamwork and boosting self- esteem, while developing a genuine appreciation and respect for animals.
