US. Cardiovascular diseases cause 40% of all deaths in the United States. This is more
than all forms of cancer combined.
DENMARK. Pronova BioPharma has inaugurated a new facility to produce the first omega-3 based
prescription drug approved for treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the EU and USA.
CHINA. Less than a decade ago, type 2 diabetes was very rare in China. Today more than
90 million people have the disease or its precursor.
USA. Novo Nordisk has extended their production facility which makes insulin cartridges and the FlexPen® product used worldwide to treat people with diabetes.
GERMANY. Almost one million children and adolescents suffer from hay fever and will do so for the rest of their lives, unless treated.
DENMARK. ALK has started supplying GRAZAX® – the world’s first tablet-based grass pollen allergy vaccine
– out of their modernised facilities.
INDONESIA. Japanese encephalitis affects thousands of people each year causing death
or disability. Especially among children.
INDIA. HLL Lifecare is building a world class vaccine production facility to combat world health
issues including Japanese encephalitis.
D. R. CONGO. Millions of people are injured and infected through unsafe injections every year.
WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA have a joint policy to use auto-disabled syringes when administering vaccines.
ABU DHABI. Medeco has established the first manufacturing of auto-disabled syringes in the Middle East
and Africa. The syringe is recommended by WHO and used in more than 40 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Far East.
USA. In 2004 autoimmune disease was the fourth largest cause of disability among women.
SWITZERLAND. Centocor Ortho Biotech has opened a new R&D fill finish pilot plant facility that was awarded
Facility of the Year 2009 for Facility Integration.
RUSSIA.After years of decline, the tuberculosis incidence has doubled during
the 1990s and Russia is now among the 20 most affected countries in the world.
DENMARK. Statens Serum Institut has built a multi-purpose vaccine production facility to help address current health problems.
MOROCCO. Basic health concerns like diarrhoeal diseases cause more
than 12% of childhood deaths.
BRAZIL. Fresenius Kabi has expanded and modernised their production facility
for infusion solutions.
USA. A blood transfusion is vital at some point in the treatment of
5 million patients each year.
CZECH REPUBLIC. Fresenius Hemocare has just revamped their facility
which manufactures blood bags.
