INTRODUCTION
ENGINEERING ENGINEER IN SOCIETY
ENGINEERING
• The concept of engineering has existed since ancient times as humans devised fundamental inventions such as the pulley, lever, and wheel.
• Each of these inventions is consistent with the modern definition of engineering, exploiting basic mechanical principles to develop useful tools and objects.
ENGINEERS IN SOCIETY
• Engineers work to develop economics and safe solutions to practical problems, by applying mathematics, scientific knowledge and ingenuity while considering technical constrains.
• Works of engineers is the link between perceived needs of society and commercial applications.
• The scope of the course is introduction of engineers in society, engineering and organization, relationship of humanization in engineering management, research and development, engineer and private sector and professional talk.
OBJECTIVE
Respond towards the role and contribution of engineers for future
development
Train the student to relate with society
Train to propose new project development at the
surrounding problem
TAMAN MURNI KE TAMAN KOPERASI
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Dangerous to
residential doing
activity infront the
house area
There are many
traffic light on the
main road
The main street is always crowded
Residential street as
a short route for
vehicles
The route able to save
time and there is low
traffic flow
ROAD SAFETY AUDIT
• Intersection• Traffic Volume• Signage• Road safety• Road Furniture
Spot Speed Study• Used to estimated the speed distribution of
the traffic stream (vehicles are approaching an intersection passing a point at non-intersection location), under the conditions prevailing at the time of the study.
• Can be carried out at : i) Trend locationsii) Problem locationsiii) Representative locations
RESULT
(1) Jalan MurniTotal number of observation = 508From the graph :- 85th percentile speed = 57 km/h- Pace = 42 – 52 km/h- Driving over the speed limit (30km/h) = 97%
(2) Jalan KoperasiTotal number of observations = 83From the graph :- 85th percentile speed = 46.5 km/h- Pace = 23 – 33 km/h- Driving over the speed limit (30km/h) = 59%
INTERSECTION SIGHT DISTANCE
At Intersection 1* Average speed, V = 9.78m/s* Sight distance for approach, SA = 29.05m
* Sight distance for departure, SD = 18.49m
* Distance travelled during crossing maneuver,S = 15.5m
INTERSECTION SIGHT DISTANCE
At Intersection 2* Average speed, V = 6.11m/s* Sight distance for approach, SA = 4.13m
* Sight distance for departure, SD = 10.87m
* Distance travelled during crossing maneuver,S = 13m
INTERSECTION SIGHT DISTANCE
At Intersection 3* Average speed, V = 5.61m/s* Sight distance for approach, SA = 3.74m
* Sight distance for departure, SD = 10.29m
* Distance travelled during crossing maneuver,S = 13m
Build a 2.5m height of red and white
stripes bar or barrier
Maintenance of road furniture
Speed sign warning on the roads
Build a raised crosswalk
Adding a clearer signage
Adding a convex
mirrors at intersection
Eliminated i. Cut slopesii. Treesiii. Bushesiv. Any
erected object
Intersection sign
Schools sign
Bumper or raised crosswalk
sign
SOLUTION METHOD
CONCLUSION
House and Road are two important thing in our daily use. House is a place we stayed and road is the way we use to go somewhere else. When road is built infront of our house, safety factor need to be consider important. At this location, users use this housing routes as their shorcut to destination. Government involve to solve this problem is Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat (MPBP). From our site investigation, this area need few improvement to avoid any lost in future for society safety.
