Practice Mitigation Processes at Home: Keeping Germs to Ourselves

• Masks• Explain why we are wearing masks• Wear a mask yourself• Put a mask on stuffed animals• Start with the student wearing a mask for a few

Monitoring COVID-19 in Schools

• School Nurses are Experts in Communicable Diseases and Public Health.• Each School Building will have a School

Nurse responsible for tracking and monitoring symptoms, possible exposures and positive cases.• The Health, Family and Community Services

Office will communicate and collaborate with Columbus Public Health to implement health and safety measures.


What do I do if my student is ill?


Keep Your Student Home If:Check Every Day Before Sending Your Student to School

Cough/difficulty breathing

Fever > 100

Headache

Sore Throat

Chills/Body Shakes


Check Every Day Before Sending Your Student to School

Muscle Aches

Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea

New loss of taste or smell

Fatigue

Congestion or runny nose

Exposed to a Person with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19

Exposure is 10 or more minutes within 6 feet

Following CDC, ODH and CPH Guidelines:

• Check for symptoms of COVID-19• Call Parents/Guardians to Pick up Student if

COVID-19 symptoms are present • Notify Parents/Guardians of next steps


What if someone at the school tests positive for COVID-19?


School Nurses and the Health, Family and Community Services Office will:

• Communicate and Collaborate with Columbus Public Health• Determine possible exposure or

transmission to other students or staff • Follow guidelines from CDC, ODH and CPH • Notify parents/guardians of possible

exposure• Provide directions for next steps
