Quality Education in a Stimulating Environment
Dear Parents
Congratulations everyone on a very successful Educa-tion Week. Our performances at Westfield Miranda and during Open Day were very impressive. The school Ath-letics Carnival was a fantastic day and our U/11 Rugby League boys played well to be runners up in the State Carnival at Penrith. I’d like to thank the students and staff for their hard work and commitment. A special thank you to all the parents and friends who attended last week’s celebrations, especially those parents who worked so hard on our Open Day. Your support is greatly appreciat-ed.
Speaking of support, the school will be holding a special meeting this Thursday 11 August at 7.30pm in the staf-froom to start organising our 2012 Family Fun Day. If you are able to help in organising this massive fundraising initiative, please come along to the meeting.
Teacher Nomination
Congratulations to Linda Highett who was recently nomi-nated by a parent at Engadine West Public School for a National Excellence in Teaching Award. Further infor-mation regarding Linda’s outstanding achievements as a teacher and team leader will now be submitted and we hope that she will receive one of the major awards. Well done Linda on such a wonderful achievement!
Canteen Helpers
At last week’s P & C Meeting it was discussed that the canteen desperately needs more parent helpers. It would be a great shame if the canteen had to close on an addi-tional day. If you can possibly volunteer to give up some of your time to assist in the canteen, please contact the school and speak to Leanne Best our Canteen Co-ordinator. We need your help!
Trivia Night
Later this year (Saturday 29 October) the P & C will be holding a Trivia Night at Engadine RSL to raise money for the school. The co-ordinators of this function are look-ing for some major prizes to raffle on the night. If you own your own business or have a kind and understand-ing boss, perhaps you may be able to donate an impres-

Congratulations to our 11 years Rugby League Team on their fantastic achievements in the NSW All Schools Rugby League Carnival last week . The boys travelled to Penrith to compete against the best rugby league schools in the State. Just to qualify for the day the school needs to win their local area competition. Engadine West did their school and the Shire proud by making it all the way to the grand final. It was a huge day of football starting at 9.00am with a strong win over the South Coast. This was followed by wins over Manly and then Penrith to make the semi finals. The boys then staged an inspirational come from behind win against Parramatta scoring 4 unanswered tries in the final 10 minutes. We then headed for St Mary’s Leagues Club stadium for the big one. Running out under lights to the cheers of our many supporters the boys fought hard to the final siren but Central Coast were too strong in the end. A big thank you to all who supported us on the day. The boys couldn’t have done it without you. Second in the State, in what is the biggest Rugby League carnival in Australia is a fabulous effort and one in which you should all be very proud. Experience another culture
BRING HOME A BROTHER OR A SISTER In January 2012, students aged 14 – 19 years from Japan, Europe, the USA and Latin America will be arriving in Australia to study at local schools for 2-10 months. Opportunities are available to act as a host family in a volunteer/unpaid capacity. Hosting can be on a temporary, short or long term basis. Host families help provide each student with the chance to study and experience life in Australia. This is a great way to practice another language, share your stories, learn about another country and cul-ture, establish a lifelong link to a family in another country and contribute to international goodwill. Our students bring with them their own spending money, health insurance and a wonderful attitude and desire to learn about their new host country. Your whole family….and your relatives and friends….will grow and learn as you all get to know your new ‘son’ or ‘daughter’ from another land. If your family can offer a friendly, supportive and caring home environment, contact us today.
