WIND ENERGY

• Wind energy is created by wind turbines converting the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power, a generator could later be used to convert this mechanical power into electricity. An advantage of wind energy is the fact that wind energy doesn’t pollute the air like energy from a power plant or other buildings. A disadvantage is that you or anybody else can not predict the wind. Wind energy is used all over the world from farms to tall buildings.

SOLAR ENERGY

• Solar panels convert the suns rays into electricity by exciting electrons in silicon cells using the protons of light from the sun.

• One of the advantages of using solar energy is that solar energy is free but building its “collectors” cost a sizable amount of money.

• Another advantage of using solar energy is that it doesn't pollute the air but the solar collectors and the machines associated with things like that in turn cause pollution.

• Solar energy Is used around the world by common households to businesses

NUCLEAR FUSION

• Nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei collide at a very high speed and join to form a new type of atomic nucleus. During this process, matter is not conserved because some of the matter of the fusing nuclei is converted in energy.

• One advantage of nuclear fusion is the fact that is a clean energy it does not create greenhouse gases.

• One disadvantage of nuclear fusion is that there is not production and there wont be until 2050.

• At the moment people do not use nuclear fusion for two reasons. One its very dangerous and two being that we haven’t gotten anywhere close for it to be used

HYDRO

• There are multiple ways to create hydro electricity but the most common way is through the use of a dam on a river. The dam stores water in a reservoir the water then gets released from the reservoir to a turbine. The turbine spins as the water flows through it turns on a generator which produces electricity.

• One advantage of hydro power is once a dam is constructed it produces a consistent amount of electricity.

• One disadvantage of hydro power is that building a dam is extremely expensive so in turn it would need to be usable for decades before it becomes profitable

• At the moment hydro power is a very big source of power in Canada

TIDAL ENERGY

• Tidal energy can be captured using a dam like hydro power but instead of collecting it in a reservoir it uses the tides to push a turbine

• One advantage of tidal energy is that it is a natural energy so it does not create greenhouse gases

• One disadvantage of tidal energy is that we can not predict the tides

• Tidal energy is not widely used as it is not a reliable power source
