Until year 2007 were built 20 000 dwelling houses

The number of flats in those dwelling houses is 850 000

50% of citizens in Slovakia live in dwelling houses

The rest of people live in single family houses

Active approach by saving energy:

Slovakia is importing 90% of their energy (10% - coal)

Protecting the environment

Citizens vs. Economy influence

Reducing the energy consumption in buildings - top priority in Slovakia

EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings

Objectives :

To promote the improvement of the energy performance of buildings through cost effective measures (new and existing buildings)

The Directive require the following to be introduced:

Methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings;

Application of performance standards for new and existing buildings

Certification schemes for buildings;

Regular inspection and assessment of boilers, heating systems and

air conditioning systems

Adjusted versions of further developed Norwegian methods and tools could support Slovakia to comply with the EU Directive !

Project proposed to the Norwegian Financial Mechanism

“Slovakian adoption of tools and software for energy certification, auditing and monitoring of buildings”

Adjustment of manuals and tools

Adjustment of Software for calculating the energy performance of buildings

Development of Slovakian performance indicators

Training of trainers

Pilot project

Updating of University education programmes

Continued training of energy auditors

Costs

...and then weimplemented the EU EPB Directive
