The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit language,. Its meaning is disc or wheel. They are centers of energy. They run from the base of our spine and up through the crown of our head.

Universally accepted theory is that there are seven chakras.

Try to imagine your body’s chakras as turning discs of energy. Each chakra has a color associated with it.

Some believe that there are other 14 minor chakra in the body and some of them are located even in our auric body. ie., outside of our physical bodies.

First Chaka is known as -Red chakra or root Chakra. Its Indian Sanskrit name is Muladhara chakra. It is found in the adrenal glands and is associated with survival instincts. Its location is just near the adrenal glands - the glands whose function is associated with the "fight or flight" response - the instinctual survival response. People who are drawn to red enjoy being in their physical bodies and being in here on earth.
