THE PLAN:

Design an open-plan, modern space for an active paraplegic and his full-time staff. The client, Brent Haywood, is known for throwing lavish parties, but comfort and functionality top the list of importance for this single bachelor.

Kicking off the concept of dynamic, figure grounds are an indication of mobility and positive and negative space.

Sketch STUDIES: a dynamic first impression of the law form is translated through a mixture of organic and primary shapes. Lighting and textures present a layer of depth and sophistication commonly found within the Washington, DC region.

EDMASTER Suite: The master suite blurs the line between luxury and ADA compliant fixtures, clearances, and space planning. Lavatory allows for Mr. Haywood to navigate directly into shower with minimal obstructions, while the bedroom features motorized nightstands for optional wardrobe changes from seated positions.
