CHANGES TO EOC – CR

• EOC constructed response (CR) items moved to local administration (instead of state) in February 2013. • EOC testing was the first time Kentucky has tried to

blend a state accountability model with a local school grading model. The results of the test must support both grading and accountability.

• The CR items did not provide feedback and instructional information. EOC CRs did not support local grading due to the amount of time required to score.

• JCPS issued a District approach to maintain use of the CRs in instruction and formative assessment.

·

Page 5: END OF COURSE (EOC) SPRING 2013. END-OF-COURSE OVERVIEW EOC assessments establish a common rigor for core courses. Current EOC assessments are for courses.

5

• CRs may be administered at a different time than the required multiple-choice sessions.• Mid-term exam, final exam, proficiency exams

• The Kentucky Board of Education may decide in the future to develop regulatory language to require the inclusion of CRs.

• Digital Technology will be working with schools testing in EOC #6 to ensure all machines are ready for computer based testing.

• Digital Technology and the Testing Unit will provide support throughout the test window.

CHANGES TO EOCPRE-PRINTED MATERIALS• Pre-printed books will now be used

• Answer documents will be perforated pages within the test book

• BE CAREFUL - If an answer document is torn while being removed from the test book, you will need to VOID it and bubble a blank answer document. (Voided materials MUST be listed on an Irregularity Report)

• Algebra reference sheets will be perforated pages within the test book

• Errors on pre-printed student information• Do not edit • Make corrections online within QualityCore roster

• No pre-printed book• Add new students to the QualityCore roster • Bubble demographics into a blank book 9

CHANGES TO EOCPRE-PRINTED MATERIALS• Headers• Pre-printed School Header• Pre-printed Group Headers

• Headers will come with information pre-printed but NOT bubbled• You DO NOT need to bubble the pre-printed information• You WILL need to bubble in the:• Test dates (BOTH)• Quality Core bubble• Answer Document count

• If you use a blank header:• You WILL need to bubble ALL information

CHANGES TO EOCPRE-PRINTED MATERIALS• If you move a student from one roster to another after the

materials have been printed you will NOT be able to use the pre-printed materials.

• Materials are printed with roster information connected to the barcode.

• Moving a student and using the pre-printed materials WILL delay scoring.

• If you need to move a student to a different roster DO NOT use the pre-printed book, instead you will need to bubble the students demographics on a blank book. 11

Page 12: END OF COURSE (EOC) SPRING 2013. END-OF-COURSE OVERVIEW EOC assessments establish a common rigor for core courses. Current EOC assessments are for courses.

CHANGES TO EOCPRE-PRINTED MATERIALS• Unused pre-printed materials

• NO LONGER need to be voided• NO LONGER need to be listed on an Irregularity

Report

• Leave the answer document inside the pre-printed book

• Remove the student from the QualityCore roster

• Return the unused book with nonscorable materials in your content boxes

• BE SURE THAT SCORABLE ANSWER DOCUMENTS DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY GET MIXED IN WITH NONSCORABLES AS THIS WILL DELAY SCORING

EOC SCORES TO LETTER GRADES• A psychometric study linking QualityCore® results (scale scores) of multiple-

choice scores to student class grades was developed using Kentucky scores.

• JCPS used the same grading scale as last year.

QUALITYCORE ROSTERS

• BACs:• Finalize Rosters • Verify all students to be tested are on roster• REMOVE (during test window) students who do

not test• No roster in SDRR at this time• Very important for Data Review - Print or save

electronic copy to use as a reference for accountability in SDRR at the end of school year
