Function of DC converter (rectifier) is to convert alternating current (AC),which periodicallyreverse direction, to direct current which flow in only one direction. This dc converter are used asstand-alone units feeding single and multiple dc loads and as input stages of ac system because of

their virtually unlimited output power and fine controllability.

Five examples of DC converter (rectifier) applications :

I. Supply polarised voltage for welding.

II. Charging batteries.III. Supply DC motor.IV. Power supply.V. Electromechanical processes.
