Good men always long to be better, and hence they go forward. Good men are never idle, and hence they do not lie down or loiter, but they are still walking onward to their desired land. They are not hurried and worried and flurried, and so they keep the even tenor of their way, walking steadily toward heaven; and they are not in perplexity as to how to conduct themselves, for they have a perfect rule, which they are happy to walk by. The law of the Lord is not irksome to them; its commandments are not grievous, and its restrictions are not slavish in their esteem. It does not appear to them to be impossible law, theoretically admirable but practically absurd, but they walk by it and in it.” I’m praying for each of you to have an undying devotion to God and His Word. May we breath it, drink it, live and die by it. May it transform us so that others may see the hope of our salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for our preschool, children, student and adult leadership Sunday afternoon as we gather together to consider God’s plan for First Lyman. This meeting will begin promptly at 4pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will spend much time in prayerful consideration and discussion ensuring the alignment of our ministries with the will of God. One Final Note

I read a little poster the other day that made me ponder ldquoIf at first you donrsquot succeedhellip redefine successrdquo I thought ldquoPerfect Now the slackers of the world have a battle cry as they lower the bar of personal expectationrdquo See Irsquom one of those unfortunate ldquoType Ardquo people who struggle with the idea that achievement equals success But what are we trying to achieve Irsquove been in lots of conversations with people who measure the success of their ministry by the ldquoABCrsquosrdquo (Attendance Budget Construction) Donrsquot get me wrong Those are all great things But are they the main thing We need to be ready for action so we can accomplish the work 1 Peter 113a ldquoTherefore gird your minds for actionhelliprdquo We just need to remember the main thing 1 Peter 115 ldquobut like the Holy One who called you be holy yourselves also in all your behaviorrdquo A focus on the ldquoABCrsquosrdquo is a focus on how much we have A focus on holiness is a focus on how much of us God has Achieving personal and corporate holiness is not a redefinition of success it is a return to Godrsquos definition of success 1 Peter 116 because it is written You shall be holy for I am holy You tell me which is more difficult drawing a crowd raising money and constructing buildings or daily growing in personal and corporate holiness

We just got back from Orange Beach and man for those of you who were praying for us we can tell - because God did some incredible things in our lives last week First of all we had a student cross over from death to life making the ultimate decision to follow Christ for the rest of her days Also we had several students come out of their shells and start sharing their faith - with random strangers I canrsquot wait to see what God begins to do through them now that wersquore home Also we had several students step up in leadership willingly serving and encouraging others Finally God brought us closer together as a group as we grew in His Word and grew in our love for Him and one another It was an incredible week and we canrsquot wait to tell you more about it Thank you for praying for us - God heard your cries and did some amazing things in our hearts and in our relationships with one another And I canrsquot wait to see what He does in our group in the coming weeks and months God is good His love endures forever And wersquore just thankful to get to play a part in His expanding kingdom
