Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.- I John 3:21-22

This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.- I John 3:23-24

Accusation – Reality

• Blasphemy - He was God• Immorality -

He loved sinners• Unspiritual -

He discerned God’s

will

Accusation – Reality

• Disobeying the rules - Obeyed God not man

• Crazy religious Zealot - Loved God Wholeheartedly

• Disloyal to his family - Seek first the kingdom

Answering them, He said, “Who are My mother and My brothers?” Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”- Mark 3:33-35

And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, so that while seeing, they may see and not perceive, and while hearing, they may hear and not understand, otherwise they might return and be forgiven.”- Mark 4:11-12

Parables- Parable = To lay beside

To compare

Parables- Most parables used to

explain the meaning and character of the “kingdom”

Parables

1. Kingdom of God on earth - church with Jesus as head

2. Kingdom of God in Heaven- God + church + angels

4 Parables about the Kingdom

1.Sower and the Seed – 4:1-20

4 Parables about the Kingdom2.Parable of the Lamp – 4:21-22And He was saying to them, “A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed? Is it not brought to be put on the lampstand? For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” And He was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides. For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.”- Mark 4:23-25

4 Parables about the Kingdom3. Parable of Normal Growth – 4:26-29And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows—how, he himself does not know. The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head. But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

4 Parables about the Kingdom4. Parable of the Mustard Seed – 4:30-32And He said, “How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade.”

With many such parables He was speaking the word to them, so far as they were able to hear it; and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples.- Mark 4:33-34

The Kingdom
