The city of the future is a spacious and clean place, friendlyto its residents on various levels. Reduced air pollution andlow traffic intensity are key factors in improving the qualityof city life. To decrease the level of emissions and congestionof streets, it is necessary to encourage car users to use publictransport more frequently. We make this goal fully achievable by creating an attractivealternative to private cars - Solaris MetroStyle vehicles. The modern and elegant MetroStyle design is visuallyattractive and it pleasantly introduces passengers intothe world of public transport.

    Modern

MetroStyle vehicles will catch your eye with their futuristicdesigncombining the latest trends from the bus and railindustries. The front part of these vehicles is similar to thewell-known Solaris trams. The modern design reflectsfunctionality as the Solaris MetroStyle line incorporates thebest features of two types of public transport - the flexibilityof buses and the efficiency of trams.

The main goal of Solaris’ designers was to offer a uniquemeans of transport that will provide the passengers withcomfortable travel comparable to using private cars. Many solutions were introduced to increase the comfortof MetroStyle users but lighting is definitely the basic one.

Lamps installed in the ceiling, platforms and in air channelhatches provide sufficient amount of warm, diffused light. This light combined with elegant and delicate colours createsa pleasing environment for passengers. An important elementof the bus equipment is the dynamic information systemfor passengers, which includes LCD screens installed abovethe doors. They display current information about the route, stops and available change options, while the voice informationsystem complements the messages displayed. Air-conditioningin the passenger area and in the driver’s cab ensuresa comfortable journey in all conditions.

When designing MetroStyle vehicles, Solaris’ engineers appliedmany innovative technical solutions. One of them is the so-called

super-single  axle. The twin tyres that are usually mountedon the second axle have been replaced by single tyres. Theiradvantageous parameters helped to significantly widen theaisle inside the vehicle.MetroStyle models may be equipped with various drive types. The first vehicles were equipped with a hybrid systemconstructed by Allison Transmission. MetroStyle vehiclesmay also be equipped with a traditional diesel engine or withthe environmentally-friendly electrical drive used in the popularTrollino trolleybuses. All this features make our offer adjustedto the needs of various customers.

Technical solutions tested in traditional models of Solaris Trollinocombined with a modern design make MetroStyle trolleybuseshighly appreciated both by passengers and transport companies

from the very beginning of their service. Like its predecessors, the Trollino MetroStyle may be equipped with a diesel generator, enabling it to operate without connection to the overhead line, and with energy storage system that allows the trolleybus to operateon short distances without external power supply, for exampleon the route between the depot and the beginning of electrictraction. With new options of designing the exterior styleof vehicles, Solaris once again responds to customers’ needs. The flexibility of this new product and its fully eco-friendly naturemeet the highest customer requirements with solutions thathave been so far unavailable in public transport.
