The text of the draft standard was submitted to the Formal Vote and was approved by CEN asEN ISO 11114-1 on 1997-09-18.
This European Standard has been submitted for reference into the RID and/or in the technicalannexes of the ADR. Therefore in this context the standards listed in the normative referencesand covering basic requirements of the RID/ADR not addressed within the present standard arenormative only when the standards themselves are referred to in the RID and/or the technicalannexes of the ADR.

4.3.4 Reference is made in this standard to stainless steels by their commonly used AISIidentification numbers, e.g. 304. The equivalent grades in EN 10088-1 are as follows:
304 1.4301
304L 1.4306 – 1.4307
316 1.4401
316L 1.4404

NOTE: For 34 Cr Mo 4 Q and T steels and equivalent hydrogen partial pressures above5 MPa (50 bar), the maximum ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of the steel should be950 MPa. Some standards specify testing methods to select appropriate steels withappropriate maximum UTS for hydrogen cylinders. Equivalent partial pressure forhydrogen sulphide and methyl mercaptan is reduced to 0,25 MPa (2,5 bar) at amaximum UTS of 950 MPa.

Risk of formation of toxic metal carbonyls.Highly sensitive to any traces of moisture(> 5 ppmV at 20 MPa (200 bar)), in thepresence of CO2 (> 5 ppmV). Industrialgrades of carbon monoxide normally con-tain traces of CO2. This can result in risk ofstress corrosion, in the case of QTS, CSand NS cylinders if used at the normalservice stress levels.www.bzfxw.com
