Term OneNewsTerm one has been a busy time – setting up

EMSA, holding meetings with as many people as could be contacted and getting started on

Affiliations, links to Further Education colleges and campaign goals and strategies.

Next term should be even busier, as we move towards setting up the committee and starting to set ourselves campaign goals, moving towards a Mature Student Senior Common Room – here’s a brief list of important dates to enter into your diaries/calendars ready for the New Year.

12th January 2009:Nominations open for the Committee...

Social Secretary• To organise and advertise Mature Student

events; lunches, parties, pub visits etc, as wanted by the membership.

• Other duties as needed; to be confirmed during set-up process.

Student Services Officer• To liaise with and communicate Mature

Student needs to the University Authorities.• Entry > Welcome Week > Study needs.• Other duties as needed; to be confirmed

during set-up process.

Satellite Campus Rep• To liaise and communicate with Mature

Students at St. Lukes Campus to guarantee inclusiveness for their needs/requirements.

• Other duties as needed; to be confirmed during set-up process.

To apply for any of these posts, you need a Proposer and a Seconder (must be current students) – email your name and student number, the names and student numbers of your proposer and seconder along with a manifesto (100 words or so) about yourself and why you want the post you’re standing for to me ([email protected]) from 12th January to 21st January and do your best to turn up on 22nd for lunch so that people can meet you...

21st January:Nominations close (Midday)

22nd January:Long Lounge lunch - 12:30pm-2:30pmLunch and hustings

26th January:Voting opens on the Guild Online Voting System (OVS) (9am)

30th January:OVS Closes (5pm)

3rd February:Long Lounge lunch – 12:30pm-2:30pmLunch and formal committee formation

5th February:Guild mini-squash – 10am-4pm.Volunteers needed to man the stall, talk to Mature Students and take contact details – please email me if you’re interested; I can’t get there until after midday myself, due to having a seminar where I’m presenting a paper that morning.
