Whether we realize it or not, our expectations can dictate our experience. We can see this

phenomenon played out clearly with our children.



If we expect the worst from our children, we will likely

receive the worst.



When we take our children into a social situation, for example, if

we expect them to behave poorly, chances are good that they will.



Whether we are conscious of it or not, the expectation that we hold for our

children is likely to manifest.



The good news is that once we are

aware of this, we can work to hold positive expectations for our children and we will

experience more positive outcomes.



Many parents are not even aware that they are complicit in creating an environment where negative

behavior has room to prevail.



Are you making this mistake?



Take the time to note your reactions toward your children for a day or two. If you find at any point that

you are expecting the worst from them, make note of it.



After a few days of analysis, consider how

frequently you expected the worst from your

children and how frequently your

expectation came true.



The cool thing is that you can adapt your expectation and it will affect how your children

behave. Awareness is key.



When you become aware of how your expectations influence

behavior, you can begin to influence your children in positive ways by

setting high expectations.



Your positivity will inspire your children to succeed naturally and it will have the

added benefit of helping you to form stronger bonds with them, too.



Your children are sensitive and

perceptive. They can sense the feelings

that you have toward them. Positive

feelings will be met with positive reactions and

everyone will benefit.



As the bond between you and your children grows stronger, you will find it

easier to experience the best in them.



Cultivating a strong bond with your children has many benefits for both

of you. By expecting the best in them, you empower them to rise up to their highest selves. They will feel

more open to sharing their experiences with you and this will lay the groundwork for a stronger

two-way relationship.



By simply expecting the best from your children, you create the space to experience the best of them in

many forms.



Raise your expectations for your children and hold the space for them to be exceptional. You will form stronger bonds and create

opportunities to share more successes, joys, and

accomplishments together. Everyone will be better for it, and

it all begins with you!
