JOB APPLICATIONS & VISA FAQS
1. The application form asks if I have a work permit. What do I say?
2. Employers often say in job adverts that the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK. Should I apply?
3. Employers say they cannot sponsor me because of the Resident Labour Market Test (RLMT) and / or because they have limited Certificates of Sponsorship? Is this true?
4. Should I only target employers with a licence to sponsor under Tier 2 as I’ve heard it takes too long to get a licence?
5. Is it OK to start working with an employer once I have finished my course?

INTERPRETING EMPLOYER ATTITUDES TO WORK VISAS
• The Register of Sponsors is not necessarily a list of recruiters of international students
• The absence of a work visa statement is not necessarily a “No”
• Employers not necessarily aware of Tier 2 visa special arrangements in place for international students
• Tension between immigration rules and equality legislation
• International or global graduate programmes suitable for international students
• The bottom line is always – am I the right fit for this programme and organisation?
