specific  design  deadlines  either  as  an  individual  or  as  part  of  a  team.  Possess  planning,  urban  design  and  CAD  technician  experience  with  the  ability  to  present  drawings  and  designs  of  a  high  quality.  Self  reliant,  highly  motivated  with  a  conscientious  approach  to  work  and  sure  of  being  an  asset  to  any  pro-

fessional  organisation.

“Captivate  your  surroundings”,  that  was  the  basis  and  core  principle  for  my  design  within  my  universi-ty  project.  The  aim  was  to  not  only  captivate  the  view  glorious  view  of  the  River  Chelmsford  but  also  to  captivate  the  eyes  of  passer-bys.  The  Chelmsford  Art  Society,  they  are  a  very  united  group  that  try  to  promote  the  creativity  of  fellow  artists.  They  have  their  own  forum  and  they  state  that  part  of

our  ultimate  goal  is  to  bring  recognition  and  participation  of  the  Arts  to  the  surrounding  community.

This  was  a  self  created  project  of  my  own  where  I  wanted  to  explore  different  designs  and  modelling  features  within  the  software  I  was  using.  A  local  university  campus  was  not  in  use  any  more  and  I

looked  to  redesigning  the  campus  to  possibly  bring  it  back  to  life.  The  idea  was  to  create  clear  cut  circulation  that  would  draw  users  of  the  location  to  the  different  site  areas.  Free  flowing  movement

with  natural  light  utilisation.

For  this  project  I  was  the  client  and  the  designer,  the  biggest  constraint  being  total  freedom.  When  you  are  the  client  and  the  designer  it  can  be  difficult  to  gain  ground  to  start  from.  I  looked  to  areas  that  could  benefit  from  development  and  possible  building  functions  that  were  missing.  Canning  Town  which  is  currently  undergoing  redevelopment  was  missing  a  major  library.  The  key  to  the  con-cept  of  this  design  was  to  create  a  distinctive  design  structure  which  was  in  unison  with  that  of  the  neighbouring  train  and  bus  station.  The  Atrium  design  would  capture  and  channel  as  much  natural  light  into  the  building  as  possible.

Another  vacant  site  in  close  proximity  to  where  I  live  was  undergoing  redevelopment  which  I  saw  as  another  opportunity  for  be  creative  mind  to  roam  freely.  Similar  to  previous  projects  I  had  done  I  chose  to  design  a  library  and  café  as  this  have  me  a  mixed  use  of  building  functionality.  There  were  three  building  structures.  The  main  building  which  was  to  be  used  for  primary  school  children,  a  design  suite  for  multimedia,  graphic  design,    product  design  and  art,  and  the  smaller  building  was  to  be  a  li-brary  for  teenagers  and  above.  The  café  would  serve  as  the  refreshment  Centre  for  visitors  so  as  to  refrain  people  from  eating  in  the  library.

Urban  Planning  and  design  is  critical  in  the  process  of  many  building  developments.  This  project  en-tailed  of  great  research  into  the  area  of  Chelmsford,  the  core  goal  being  that  we  were  to  propose  a  development  that  would  be  pitched  to  the  Chancellor.  We  were  designing  for  possible  planning  per-mission  approval.  With  a  large  vacant  site  situated  behind  the  railway  station  I  took  to  the  proposal

of  a  pathway  which  would  create  a  clear  link  to  the  university  which  in  turn  would  bring  a  greater  influx  of  people  into  Chelmsford.  My  proposal  would  also  provide  an  outdoor  sporting  facility  for  the

university  and  YMCA  nearby

As  I  am  exploring  utilising  different  CAD  softwares,  I  have  begun  training  myself  in  the  use  of  Revit.  These  examples  are  an  exploration  of  the  design  tools  available  and  seeing  how  the  program

works  in  comparison  to  other  software  packages  I  have  used.  The  next  step  would  be  investigating  the  interlink  between  Revit  and  AutoCAD,  Microsoft  Excel  and  maybe  SketchUp.
