Our production plant SAB in Barth/Germany has a

history of machine and plant manufacture of more

than 100 years. After the takeover by the EMF group

in the 1990‘s a separate production area for high-

grade steel products was established. Based on this

and with continuous technical innovation a modern

high-capacity production plant was developed. Thus

we are able to manufacture machines and plant

modules of highest quality economically in our own

premises.

Two separate production areas

In addition to high-grade steel processing the black

steel construction capacity was extended. Today SAB

Barth GmbH does not only manufacture maritime

installations and high-capacity fi sh meal, fi sh oil and

rendering plants for the world market, but also those

prefabricated steel parts we need for our turnkey pro-

jects when building complete plants. Therefore, we

are able to offer our customers even more than a pro-

duction line “made in Germany”. We deliver you com-

plete EMF plants from one source from the very fi rst

step of planning up to fi nal assembly and commissio-

ning on site. This enables us to provide a high level of

fl exibility when implementing your requirements.

High Quality

The high quality standards we apply to all SAB pro-

duction lines are not only evident from high-quality

workmanship and long life cycle of the machines. In-

novative technology, optimal handling and a high de-

gree of maintainability are also important criteria for

us. This is certainly one of the reasons for the steady

increase in demand for SAB products and for the fact

that our company has established itself as a compe-

tent, high quality supplier.

Certifi cations

SAB has been approved and certifi ed according to

the high requirements of the EU guidelines for qua-

lity management EN ISO 9001-2000. It also holds

the “Advanced Welding Fitness Certifi cate” in accor-

dance with the important German industry standard

DIN 18800.

Specifi c solutions

Therefore, we do not have any problems in optimising

our products according to market requirements and

in developing new ones in order to make operating

procedures of our plants even more economic and

effective. Customised machines and plant modules

that have been developed by us meet all country-spe-

cifi c demands made to slaughtering, processing and

preparation procedures. Our plant concepts focus on

the requirements of the processing industry. If appli-

cable, we consider hygiene regulations based on the

results of the latest research as much as any specifi c

regulations required by employment and animal pro-

tection law.

Supreme technical standard

The SAB range of production comprises also more

complex technical installations requiring interdiscipli-

nary professional competence and experience. As an

example, the design and construction of cold stores

including the cold store modules manufactured in our

own premises. Our compact and therefore economic

spiral freezers stand out by extraordinary fl exibility

and versatility and are suitable for being customised

to various fi elds of food processing and different ca-

pacities.

Combining high-grade steel manufacturing and black

steel construction in one manufacturing plant with

two production units EMF is in a position to offer the

complete implementation of a food processing plant

from planning up to turnkey handover from one single

source. Thus our customers benefi t from the fl exibility,

cost-effectiveness and quality of our company-owned

manufacturing plant.

Prefabrication for turnkey projects

In most cases the structures of the halls used for our

turnkey projects are prefabricated in our manufactu-

ring plant in Barth. This is the safest way to comply

with our own demand for high quality standards and

is of particular importance where highly resilient sup-

porting structures are concerned, being exposed to

extreme climatic conditions. All steelwork items are

painted or galvanised in Germany and assembled on

your construction site together with the building ser-

vices. It goes without saying that you can expect the

same care we apply in manufacture.

Maritime plant construction

In the fi eld of prefabrication and later assembly on site

SAB has comprehensive experience originating from

maritime plant construction. The shipbuilding-related

modules and installations, particularly high-capacity

boat launching units and ship cranes, are individually

manufactured and subsequently installed on board.

Fish meal and rendering plants

In Barth, EMF also manufactures plants for the pro-

cessing of waste from the food industry. In spite of

being constructed in a compact, economic way the

fi sh meal, fi sh oil and rendering plants of SAB can

be adapted to the individual requirements of the cus-

tomer and to the processing capacity he needs (for

example as land- or ship-based units), and they are

regarded among the most long-lasting and techni-

cally mature installations worldwide. The fact alone

that 900 SAB fi sh meal plants have been sold so far

speaks for itself.

In the past few years we have successfully fi nished

numerous new projects with high technical require-

ments demonstrating our outstanding performance

capability.


In this fi eld we have implemented more than 100 pro-

jects in 26 countries to date. We have fully automatic

slaughtering plants in Tyumen, Russia, in Opole, Po-

land, and especially designed plants for the slaughte-

ring of turkeys or ducks in Antalya, Turkey, and Pyong

Yang, North Korea. In White Russia we have imple-

mented several turnkey plants including building,

building services and slaughtering line. In 2007, eight

slaughterhouses were built in Egypt – these slaugh-

terhouses have capacities in the range 500 to 6000

animals per hour.

Slaughtering and processing of big animals

In this fi eld EMF has effective references in Riga,

Minsk, Kaliningrad and Moscow. Furthermore, big

slaughterhouses were implemented in Romania, Bul-

garia and Kazakhstan. In the North of Kazakhstan

we are building the largest modern slaughtering and

processing plant with a footprint of 6 ha. Moreover,

modern slaughterhouses are located in Almaty and

Aktobe. The customers required capacities of 50 up

to 500 pigs/hour or 10 to 60 head of cattle/hour or

50 to 500 sheep/hour. In Dnepopetrovsk (Ukraine) a

meat processing plant with a pelmeni processing line

and smokehouses with a capacity of 210 animals/

day was planned. We are happy to supply you with a

large number of reference sites.

Fish processing

The fi sh processing plants having been implemen-

ted by EMF are designed for various purposes. They

range from frozen food plants to smokehouses to

canning plants with Kosmino (19,200 cans/day) and

Preobashenije (24,000 cans/day) having the highest

capacities. The turnkey processing plant we imple-

mented in Moscow has a processing capacity of 10

tons/day, a similar one in Arkhangelsk has a capacity

of 15 tons/day. Plants for the processing of squids

and caviar in Astrakhan and Vladivostok as well as for

fi sh food complement the range of our activities.

Cold stores and freezers

EMF builds turnkey cold stores of any size. The cold

store of Petropavlovsk on the peninsula of Kamchat-

ka with a storage capacity of 5,000 tons is currently

the oldest one; placed in one of the most earthqua-

ke-prone areas of the world. The versatile high-per-

formance SAB spiral freezers are operating in many

processing lines, and models with capacities between

400 and 3,000 kg are in operation in Germany, Aus-

tria and Russia.
