We are at the crossroads of technological advancement
and operational excellence, where big data analytics,
supply chain analytics, automation, industry 4.0,
optimization, trade-o� management, logistics excellence,

In an increasingly connected world, the traditional function of
operations management has undergone a metamorphosis.
Operations management which was often considered a
horizontal function has now established itself as a vertical, with
multiple branches and varied ramifications.
Considering the aforesaid development, this conference aims to
understand how the change in perception of the operations field
from being considered as a horizontal function to an established
vertical, can lead to the creation of sustainable competitive
advantage. With this agenda, the Department of Operations and
Information Science Management, T A Pai Management Institute,
Manipal, India in collaboration with Montpellier Business School,
Montpellier, France is organizing the International Conference on
Emerging Trends in Operations and Analytics.
We invite original papers/case studies related to the conference
theme, from academicians, industry professionals, research
scholars, and independent consultants/professionals. The
interested participants are requested to submit an extended
abstract that addresses, but not restricted to, the areas indicated
alongside.
Nowadays, operations managers provide vital insights on how to

Management, and Journal of Business Ethics.
For his academic work, Constantin received several awards: best reviewer award Journal of
Operations Management (2012, 2013), best reviewer award Journal of Supply Chain Management
(2012), best paper award at The 21st Annual North American Research Symposium on Purchasing
and Supply Chain Management of ISM 2011, and the Harold E. Fearon Best Paper Award for the
best article in Journal of Supply Chain Management in 2010.
Dr. Constantin Blome is Full Professor of Operations Management and Associate Dean for
Research. He is also Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange for BMEc since February 2018.
Constantin is also Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Operations & Production
Management.
In recent years, Constantin was involved in raising approx. 4 mn Euro competitive research
budgets in total. Also, Constantin consulted numerous firms or pursued executive trainings for
them, among these are Credit Suisse, Merck, Clariant, Deutsche Telekom, DHL/ DPWN, Deutsche
Bahn, Siemens, Philips, Heinz, Henkel, Glaxo Smith Kline, Gesellschaft fuer international
Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), EADS, Nestle, Government of Vietnam and Global Witness.
Before Constantin was the GlaxoSmithKline Chaired Professor in Strategic Sourcing and
Procurement at Universite catholique de Louvain, Belgium and a�liated with the Center of
Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) which he both still pursues on a part-time basis.
He also taught and pursued at several international institutions MIT (visiting scholar), EBS
Business School (assistant professor of sourcing in emerging markets), Indian Institute of
Management Bangalore (research fellow), Michigan State University (visiting scholar), University
of Siegen (substitute full professor), iae Aix-en-Provence (associate faculty), Technical University
of Berlin (lecturer). He also taught courses at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Saint-
Petersburg State University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Vlerick Leuven Gent
Management School and Solvay Business School. Constantin studied at University of Bielefeld
and Technical University of Berlin (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) and finished his habilitation at EBS Business
School, Germany. He is also a certified purchasing and supply manager (CPM. and CPSM).
Constantin is also appointed member of the Club of Rome (EU Chapter), the German Chapter of
the Club of Rome. He also currently serves as VP Europe (before VP at large) for the Decision

Dr. Angappa Gunasekaran is Dean and Professor at the School of Business & Public
Administration, California State University, Bakersfield. Prior to this, he served as Dean of the
Charlton College of Business from 2013 to 2017, Chairperson of the Department of Decision and
Information Sciences from 2006-2012, and the founding Director of Business Innovation
Research Center (BIRC) from 2006 to 2017 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He
has over 300 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented about 50 papers,
published 50 articles in conferences, and given a number of invited talks in many countries. He is
on the editorial board of several journals. He has organized several international workshops and
conferences in the emerging areas of operations management and information systems.

Chain Management at Temple University's Fox School of Business. He has joint appointments in

Analytics and the Ph.D. Concentration Advisor for Operations and Supply Chain Management.
Prof. Kumar has held the Carol and G. David Van Houten Professorship at Texas A&M University's
Mays Business School. He was also a faculty at University of Washington. He holds a Changjiang
Scholars Chair Professorship at the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in China and a
Visiting Professorship at the Indian School of Business (ISB). In addition, he is an Associate
Member of the Graduate Faculty at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Prof. Kumar is the Deputy Editor and a Department Editor of Production & Operations
Management (POM), and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Management and Business Review. He
has served as a Senior Editor of Decision Sciences (DSI) and an Associate Editor of Information
Systems Research (ISR). Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Database
Management and International Journal of Social and Organizational Dynamics in IT. He was the
conference chair for POMS 2018 and DSI 2018. Also, he co-chaired the INFORMS Conference on

is based on the use of data to develop statistical and machine
learning models to support decision-making. Consistently, wealth
of data is produced on social media by industries and businesses.

with labour and capital. There is also a need for people with deep
analytical skills and know-how to make e�ective business
decisions.
Pedagogy: Participants will be exposed to hands-on analytical
techniques on real-world datasets using plug and play
approaches on software like R and Python. In addition to these, the
facilitator would user-friendly web applications and discuss
required concepts through caselets or use-cases to provide
conceptual framework or templates that would aid participants in
data analysis and generating insights.

students and early career researchers who appreciate data

stations lie on the Konkan route connecting the north and the
south along the west coast. Prepaid taxis and auto-rickshaws are
available from the railway station.
The nearest airport is at Mangalore (also known as Mangaluru)
which is 75-80 minutes drive by road. There are daily domestic
flights for major Indian cities. Prepaid taxis are available 24 hours at
Mangalore airport.
