“Adrian and the team seem to always get the scoop. They basically have digital signage running through their veins and no DS list would be complete without them”.

Why We Chose Scala?

Monday, 19 September 2011

Page 35: EMEA #ScalaConf 2011 Keynote

35

Text

Christie has an agnostic approach to digital signage software but at some point the customer has to choose a specific product in order to drive the MicroTiles

We narrowed it down quite quickly to Scala versus Omnivex

Text

The Scala InfoChannel5 content management and media playout system had some key advantages when the needs for content delivery were assessed.

• the flexibility to interact with existing scripting languages such as VBscript and Python meant that precise manipulation and formatting of data and complex control logic was possible

• there was a designer tool which allowed dynamic and programmatic content to be authored and sequenced

• text overlay in live text elements

“In terms of software, Ayuda’s OpenSplash has been standardized as a player and I hope others will use it”

Dirk Hülsermann, President of OVAB Europe, and Manager DOOH Solutions, NEC

“I love the stuff that the OpenSplash platform is doing on the player side and the execution of the content on the network. We are very excited about that. We’re very excited to be participating in that and to certify our software on that type of platform as I believe it will open up the marketplace”

Denise Macdonell, Director and General Manager Digital Signage Harris
