EMBA Class XIII

Graduating May 2014

I worked at the Nasdaq OMX Group as a market and trading operations specialist for almost five years; they recently eliminated my position. It is the leading electronic exchange dealing with stocks and options. Before working at Nasdaq OMX, I worked at a proprietary stock trading firm in Midtown Manhattan as a day trader.

I hold a B.S. in Finance from Villanova after graduating in 2006. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York where I was born and raised after previously living in Manhattan for the six years out of college. BROOKLYN!

Drew Beck

CA & I Lead

Merck & Co., Inc.

I am currently employed with Merck & Co., Inc. and have been for the past 15 years. As a graduate from James Madison University with a B.S. in Chemistry, I began my career in a Quality Operations role within Merck’s Manufacturing Division. In 1999, I successfully transitioned into our U.S. Human Health Division and held various Sales, Management, and Strategy Development positions over the past decade. My current po-sition involves establishing collaborative agreements between Merck and external organizations to develop, test, and eventually commercialize innovative products and services intended to improve patient adherence and health outcomes.

My wife, Jodi, and I relocated to Southeastern PA area from Washington, DC in 2002 and have enjoyed estab-lishing our family roots in Philadelphia (well, in Schwenksville) ever since. We will be celebrating our ninth wedding anniversary this coming November with our two daughters, Caitie (7) and Ashley (5).

When I’m not working, as my wife always jokes, I’m working…. usually on home improvement projects such as landscaping my yard or building a shed. When I do have a ‘down moment’, I enjoy spending it with my girls, traveling to our family’s lake house, or trying to find that rare morning where I can squeeze in a round of 18 holes.

Dan Weeden

Founder-President and CEO

ENERACTIVE Solutions

My name is Daniel K. Weeden, Dan or Danny to most who know me. I live with my wife Joann and three chil-dren, Anna, Elizabeth, and Robert in Interlaken, New Jersey. Interlaken is a small community on the shore of New Jersey and we have lived here for about 12 years. I met my wife at Villanova University, from where I

graduated in 1989 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Using my degree, I started my career in technical sales of mechanical equipment, primarily to the power generation and chemical/manufacturing industries. After a five year tenure with my first com-pany out of college, I leveraged my sales experience within the energy industry of electricity and natural gas and began developing projects for commercial and industrial energy users looking to save money in the newly deregulated energy market. From there, a career in energy conservation evolved until a point in 2006 when I created my own company, ENERActive Solutions, where I am currently the President and CEO. In 6 years-time, the business has grown from a single office in Asbury Park, NJ to three locations including New York and Washington, DC. Our business serves commercial, industrial, and institutional energy users with innovative solutions for cost savings and social responsibility in the domain of sustainability.

My life is blessed. Our summers are spent at the beach and our winters are spent waiting for beach weather. In my free time I work towards some goals that I hope give a good example to my kids. I have hosted charity events with my wife (one of which I sang at – probably not the best way to raise money for charity by abusing the ears of your donors). I have twice competed in the Florida Ironman Triathlon and several other endurance events. Triathlon was a goal for personal reasons of fitness and lifestyle but be-came so much more. While my time will never go down in any record books for an Ironman, the achievement of the goal and the lessons learned in the journey to the finish line will forever make it a lifetime accomplishment.

I am excited to be back in the Villanova community and look forward to the time to be spent with all of you.
