An unknown vehicle hit a fire hydrant, pushing it over. Two Hoopeston women arrested after a traffic stop at 1:21 p.m. Thursday at South Third St. and East Penn. Megan Lane, 32, and Ashleigh E. Sosbe, 38, were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on a notice to appear in Hoopeston City Court. Javier Aguirre, 44, of Hoopeston, was arrested after police stopped him at 5:37 p.m. Thursday at South Mar- ket and East Washington about a bicycle issue. Found to be wanted on a warrant, he was taken to the Public Safety Building in Danville in lieu of bond. A 46-year-old Hoopeston man reported at 9:50 p.m. Thursday that property was stolen from his residence in the 400 block of North Ninth Ave. The theft is under investigation. A 14-year-old Hoopeston boy, on home confine- ment, was found at 10:33 p.m. Thursday in another loca- tion in the 600 block of West Elm. The boy was charged with violation of court order/probation and was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Danville to await a hear- ing. Haley Edwards, 24, of Hoopeston, was arrested after police were called at 1:30 p.m. Friday to Hoopeston Marathon where a video purportedly showed her failing to pay for an item. Edwards was located at West Chestnut and South Sec- ond Ave., allegedly with an open container of alcohol. She was charged with burglary and transportation of open container of alcohol and taken to the Public Safety Building in Danville to await arraignment. LAYDEN - Richard Phillip “Dick” Layden, 89, of Hoopeston, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020 at Heritage Health, Hoopeston. Visitation was 2-5 p.m. Sunday, with rosary service at 4:45 p.m., at An-derson Funeral Home, Hoopeston. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hoopeston.
