Mayor Yarber and Dir. Jones --

Tyrone and I just finished meeting with Robbie Jones. We just wanted to take a minute to reach out and say thatwe can see how much effort you have put into trying to reach a level of savings that matches what the councilproposed and works best for the city.

We also wanted to say how much we appreciate the further cuts you've made and the time you've spentreaching this point.

We think that some of the additional cuts you've proposed will have an adverse impact on the City. Fortunately,it looks like the total numbers are close enough now that with some minor changes we should be able to meetour reserve fund requirement without making these cuts.

Here's what we're thinking: 1.) we don't make the additional cuts you've laid out in parks, legal, Human andCultural services, municipal courts, and police beyond council's revised numbers; 2.) we split the differencebetween the Council's revised proposal and your most recent proposal in Public Works; 3.) fire remains what's inthe Council's revised proposal (which is still an increase above what the council initially proposed); 4.) we leaveeverything else the same in your most recent proposal. That leaves the final total savings at approx $7.1million.

With the incorporation of these changes, we feel comfortable that we'll have reached the best possible budget for

the city in these difficult financial times.
