Hospitality, comfort and elegance
The Schmitt-Wenz family – the owners of Hotel Palmenhof whose third generation is currently managing the hotel -stand for hospitality put into practice in real life. Their maxims are comfort coupled with elegant ambiance, personalised service and family-like hospitality. Each and every day, their passion for quality is reflected in the evaluations of guests from all over the world.
Located in the heart of Frankfurt, the reddish brown sandstone building with a façade in the style of the Wilhelminian era creates the perfect ambiance: timeless elegance in the high-end banking district of Westend, opposite the green oasis of the famous Palmengarten botanic garden.
“It is impossible to live in a really beautiful city on a continuous basis – it takes away one’s aspiration and yearnings.”Elias Canetti
“One might have known three or four thousand people, but one only talks about six or seven of them.” Elias Canetti
Our rooms – your personal realm
Just like our guests, our rooms are quite individual – no two rooms are alike. We have combined antiques from various eras with modern furnishings in a highly individual fashion in every room, thus infusing our hotel with its very special charm.
Your most prominent predecessor:Elias Canetti, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature
The well-known author and aphorist Elias Canetti –who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1981 – lived at the Palmenhof (which was called “Pension Bettina” at the time) from 1921 until 1924, while he was attending the nearby secondary school Wöhler-Realgymnasium to earn his university entrance diploma. His work was influenced by the time he spent in Frankfurt. There is a commemorative plaque in remembrance of him.
Old and new are co-ordinated harmoniously: our 45 single or double rooms and the junior suite are equipped with WLAN, telephone, satellite TV, radio, a safe and a mini bar, while warm pastels and period furniture conjure up a comfortable ambiance.
The rooms at the front offer a beautiful view of the mature chestnut trees lining the avenue of Bockenheimer Landstraße. Some of the rooms at the rear of the building have a balcony.
Starting the day well rested and invigorated
We offer you a lavish breakfast buffet with regional products. Our service also caters to the individual requests of our guests, allowing you to start your day refreshed and invigorated. In addition, our breakfast room with its cosy furnishings offersa quiet setting for reading the latest daily newspapers that are provided.
