It is much easier to set up the power meter before you mount the power meter into the panel. This section explains, how to set up the power meter before mounting the power meter in the panel.

1. Connect the auxiliary supply (control power) 80 to 270 VAC to terminals 11 and 12. Press and hold for two seconds, while powering up the power meter. The display enters PROG menu setup and displays SET. Refer to “Edit set parameters” for more information. Program the following readings for accurate readings: A.PRI, A.SEC: Set these values to match your CT primary and secondary values. For example, if your CT ratio is 200:5, set A.PRI =200.0 and A.SEC = 5.000. V.PRI, V.SEC: Set these values to your input voltage VLL of circuit, if your input voltage is < 500 VACLL. For example, if the input voltage is 300 VACLL, set V.PRI = 300.0 and V.SEC = 300.0. Use potential transformer (PT/VT), if the input voltage > 500 VACLL. Set the V.pri and V.sec values to match the primary and secondary of the PT(VT) respectively. For example, if PT(VT) ratio is 11 kV: 110, set V.pri = 11.00 k and V.sec = 110.0. Select one of the following system configuration according to your wiring configuration. SYS = STAR for 4-phase 3-wire system SYS = dLtA for 3-phase 3-wire system.2. Connect the current transformers (CTs).

3. Connect the voltage inputs. Use PT(VT) if input voltage exceeds 500 VLL

PROG Menu - Setup

The following example explains, how the different keys in the power meter operates. The example explains, how to navigate from the RMS page to VLN page and back to RMS page, in ELF3259 meter.

1. Press from RMS page. The display shows VLL. 2. Press . The display shows VLN. 3. Press to go back to RMS page.

NOTE: Use to go forward to sub-parameter pages and to go back to main parameter pages. Use to scrollthrough the display pages in same level.

NOTE: The following symbols are used to explain the different operations of the keys. for right key operation. for left key operation. for down key operation.

The PROG menu setup gives the complete list of user-programmable parameters.? You must set up the power meter to match the application settings before use. Otherwise, readings will be wrong.? All the setup parameters can be re-programmed, using SET. However, the following settings critically determine the scaling of the measured readings: SYS (star or delta), Vpri, Vsec, Apri, Asec.? The scaling may be used to minimize the errors in reading due to Instrument Transformer errors. However, wrong settings will introduce errors in readings on other running systems.

You can enter PROG menu setup in ? View mode: To view the set parameters.

? Edit mode: To view or edit the set parameters.

HAZARD OF UNINTENDED OPERATIONOnly qualified personnel are authorized to set up the power meter.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment damage.

Labeling of INTG Parameters

View INTG Parameters

? Your ELF3200 series power meter is equipped with an energy integrator function which provides several parameters for energy management: VAh, Wh, VARh (Ind), -VARh (Cap). ? The integrator parameters are always accumulated irrespective of the parameter selected in the setup. For example, if the parameter W is selected in the setup (PAR), all the energy parameters VAh, VARh, will be accumulated, along with the Wh in the integrator.? All the values stored in INTG are direct readings and have high resolution.

? The ELF3200 series power meter displays integrator values up to four digits both before and after the decimal point. ? The power meter has the following labeling for integrator parameters. If W is selected in the setup: ? W.H = First four digits of the energy value.

? W.h = Last/next four digits of the energy value.

? For example, if W.H = 01.00 and W.h = 0987, then the energy value is 1.000987.

1. Press from RMS page. The display shows INTG. 2. Press . The display shows W.H for one second and then the energy value’s first four digits 01.00.3. Press . The display shows W.h for one second and then the energy value’s last/next four digits 0987.

This section is applicable only for ELF3234 and ELF3234-3 power meters.

NOTE: The following example explains the auto-scroll through the RMS sub-parameter pages of ELF3259 meter.

Step Perform Output

1. Press , from the RMS page. The display shows VLL (RMS sub-parameter page of ELF3259).

2. Press continuously for three seconds The display flashes AUTO and starts and then release. auto-scroll down the sub-parameter pages.

Table 7: Auto-scroll

NOTE:Press any key to revert to manual scrolling. Auto-scroll feature is not possible in the setup parameters.

Kilo: When lit, indicates that the reading is in Kilo (10^3). For example, 32.00 with K LED lit indicates that the value is 32,000.Mega: When lit, indicates that the reading is in Mega (10^6). For example, 32.00 with M LED lit indicates that the value is 32,000 K.

GIGA: When both Kilo and Mega are lit, indicates that the reading is in Giga (10^9). For example, 32.00 with K, M LEDs lit indicates that the value is 32,000 M.

Negative: When lit indicates that the value is negative as per IEEE 100 and any industry standard. For forward flow of Watts and capacitive (leading) load, the VAR,PF values will be negative. For reverse flow of Watts and Inductive (lagging) load, the W, PF, and VAR values will be negative.

? When the integrator is cleared (manually or due to overflow), the energy values stored in the integrator will be transferred to the OLD register.? Thus the old energy values are not lost, even after the integrator is cleared, and can be viewed with the OLD parameter.

NOTE: For energy studies clear the integrator at the end of each observation. This transfers all the stored energy values to the OLD register, where they are held, while the integrator begins accumulating data for the next observation. Remember that the next time when the integrator is cleared, the OLD values will be overwritten.

INTG Overflow

? The energy values stored in the integrator are based on the PT ratio x CT ratio set for the application.? All the integrator values VAH/VAh, WH/Wh, VARH/VARh, -VARH/VARh reset together whenever any one of the values overflow. This enables easy energy management calculations.? The maximum number, the power meter can handle is 9999 giga for RMS and energy values.? During INTG overflow, the values stored in the integrator are transferred to OLD register.
