Elephants - Larissa Lanker Causes and Consequences The causes of the extinction of the elephants are that human take the habitat of the elephants, so they have less space and human-elephant conflicts. One of the problems is the illegal poaching where they get ivory from the elephants. The number of killeg elephants because of poaching is appreciated of 38,000 per year. Then there is another cause of the extinction of the asian elephants because they take wild elephants for work, culture or tourism. For example in Burma it has been estimated that the current rate of off-take of wild elephants for the logging industry will result in a loss of that wild population in less than 50 years. Other problems are for example the palm oil industry. The logging of the palms threatens the habitant of the elephants. Also the human take up abode in the habitant of the elephants and plant there their fields. Elephants really like to eat this, but they destroy all the crops by walking trough the fields. The consequences of the extinction of the elephant is first, that the biggest terrestrial animal would disa- pear. A wonderful, very intelligent being with a spectacular social behavour. The elephant is very imporant for the asian culture and tourism. They would lose important aids and the tourism in asia would have a big loss. Also the extinction of the elephants would cause a change of the en- vironment of the elephants. There would be other plants and other animals, everything would look different, because this big animal contributes a lot. Audience The Audience for my video is the general public, especially donors who are important for funding the work of aid agencys. I want them to learn that the elephant is a wonderful animal which would lack in our world. They should know what the elephants are able to do, how intelligent they are, what skills they have. Also their social behavour is very fascinating, and I want to understand people that this behavour is unique. So they should love the elephant at least as much as I just begin to do. And they should learn to see how grave it would be if we would lose this animal. I would like to effect that the audience wants to save the elephant and that they donate for it and that they champion the animal. Concept My concept is that I first will show why the elephant is so special: his weight, size and his behavour. I will show this with graphics on the computer. than i will have two sides on the screen. the nature where the elephants life and the city where the asian population lives. if the elephant crosses the line between this two sides it will change something. I thought about changing the color of the elephant. I want the style of the video in a graphic way of representation. Also I want some moving things in my video. That don’t have to be the elephant itself walking (because that’s very difficult to do on computer, that it looks naturally), but it can be typography, the position of things and the view you have. There are ways to play with that. It’s also important in my video to show the beauty of the elephants. At the end there will be this two sides, the na- ture and city, and the graphic picture will turn into the same picture as a real photography. With this effect I will say that the problem is real, in our world. I thought about Thai drum music in the background and that no one speaks, you only see, read and listen. Mood So the mood of my motion piece is more that you are fascinated by the animal, that you are excited and in- terested about what the video shows you. It’s not sad but it should affect people. The motion should show the problem of the extinction of the elephants. The methods i’m putting in place to ensure readability is that I will show clear facts, not to complicated but unterstandable and important.
