Students: Learn about math games including NIM, Toads & Frogs, Triangle Pennies and the 4 Square Problem. Then join the Math Olympics on June 2nd to share what you’ve learned.

Parents: Join us for the same games but also join Central Professors Shiver and Rogan-Klyve to learn more about the mathematics behind the Common Core curriculum that your students are currently exploring at school.

When: Tuesday nights, 6:30-7:30pm starting May 5th and continuing through June 2nd. Where: At Lincoln Elementary in Ellensburg

Here’s a Sample Math Circle problem for your student to try:

Color the design on the right so that each region is a given a single color and so that no two neighboring regions, that is, those sharing a boundary, are given the same color. Note: two regions that only meet at a point may be given the same color. (From MSRI Puzzles on Wheels- Feb 2005)
