Preface

With the advent of information technology there is a “paradigm

shift” in the way the information is stored and retrieved and

therefore the focus has been shifted from print resources to

online resources. The e-resources are becoming important

resources for scholarly communications. With the increase in the

e-resource subscription in the library, there has been a need for

scientific management of such e-resources. With the said

background, this volume covers the issues and challenges related

to the e-resource management in library and information centres.

This volume has been divided in to three parts. Part I deals with

the status, issues, challenges and management of electronic

resources in library and information centers. Part II covers the ICT

applications in library and information centers whereas Part III

includes the topics related to Information literacy. I hope that the

paper included in the volume will be very useful to the readers.

I am highly thankful to the authors of this volume and also

thankful to all members of the editorial team for their painstaking

effort in the editing and reviewing the volume.

I have no words to express my thanks to my friends and well-

wishers for their care, cooperation and moral support.

I would also like to appreciate Mr. Ravi Ahuja of Shankars Book

Agency Pvt Ltd. New Delhi and Rajiv Gupta of Images &

Impressions, New Delhi for bringing out this book in time.

Finally, I deeply indebted to my family members since this book

could not have seen the light of the day without their sacrifice.
