INTRODUCTION

1.Payments are an indispensable part of our daily transactions, so is the electricity bill payment.

2.Electricity charges varies from state to state ,region to region.

3.Kilowatt hours are the units used to measure your electric use.

4.Bills are made on the basis how much electricity, in kWh, is consumed each month.

Wattage * hours used % 1000 * price per kilowatts = cost of electricity

5.A baseline quantity is the amount of energy that is intended to satisfy a substantial portion of the energy needs of the average customer in your area.

6.As the electric use moves above baseline quantity the charges of electricity per kwh increases.

THEORETICAL BASE:

Customers enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program also pay for their electricity as they increase their usage, but their costs are based on three tiers, instead of the traditional five.

The developed billing software on giving customers name and units consumed gives electricity bill. This bill is payable in two ways either Online bill payment or Offline bill payment.

ELECTRICITY ONLINE BILL PAYMENT METHOD

Firstly log on the website of administration for eg. http://chandigarh.gov.in

Then click on Pay Electricity Bills. Then register on the website by creating user name and

password. This will enable the customer to-(1) pay his bills and (2)

Check electricity payment. Then click on PAY YOUR BILLS.

ELECTRICITY OFFLINE BILL PAYMENT

For customers who wish to pay their bills offline there are many available options-

1.Hand held machines-The payment receipt shall be handed over to customer on the spot.

2.Payment in ERO's-It issues computerised receipts.

3.ATP machines-Any time payment machines for the convenience of customers who can now pay their electricity bills round the clock-365 days.

HISTORY

The Punjab State Electricity Board was formed on 1-2-1959 under the Electricity Supply Act 1948. The reorganization of erstwhile State of Punjab under the Act 1966 was done and came into existence in the year 1967. They are equipped with modern capacity of 62 MW which was later grown up in leaps and bounds with higher capacities of 6841 MW including the Central Sectors.They are handling more than 66.83 Lakh customers out of which 1.12 Lakh comes in industrial areas, 10.33 Lakh in Agriculture connection and 54.86 in General Category.
